3. Can Brink be slowed down? Mit, Gardiner and Beers need to push her, muscle her, block her out, and push her some more (she is long armed and athletic, but not as strong as any of OSU's big three gals)..AND OSU must double team her with a guard dropping down to harass her. To attack a shotblocker like Brink...Beavs must upset her timing upon which her blocking depends... use lots of fakes, hook shots (by Mit?), shakes, and go into her chest too. Brink is A LOT stronger than she looks. I remember her freshman year she went toe to toe w/ Pili from USC and didn't give an inch. Pili is probably at least as big and strong as Beers.

Call me crazy, but I'm looking forward to the Stanford game. Not saying OSU wins, but I think they are very energized and confident right now. They're not going to be overawed by playing a top-5 opponent. Bump

Well, I did not expect this game to be close the whole way, but it was. Beavs looked really good.

Beers finishing through (lots of) contact. How was that not a foul?

Because if was Stanford's Cam Brink. She gets lots of protection. In my opinion, 3 bad calls and a miracle shot at buzzer to end the 3rd. Quarter cost the Beavs this game. Disappointing. Tara does not want to see the Beavs in the Pac-12 Tournament.

Tara does not want to see the Beavs in the Pac-12 Tournament. One of the most foul prone players in the country is protected? Interesting take. For a protected player, watch some of Boston from South Carolina. She almost can't commit a foul in most games, regardless of what she does.

Beers finishing through (lots of) contact. How was that not a foul? That’s not a foul. Brink is entitled to her space and she did not bring her arms down. That’s a good no call.

Judge Smalls,
What is your view on what is happening with Talia? Is she just in a shooting slump? Is there something physically wrong? Is she just not progressing the way most of thought she would?
I look forward to your response.

I look forward to your response. She is a good player, but she is not super quick and needs to play exclusively off the ball. I think she is in a bit of a slump, but it would help if we had a better pure PG that could drive and kick it out to her. Yeaney is doing OK, but she’s better at driving all the way to the hoop, then driving in and kicking it out to the open shooter. Still think they are a true PG away from being very good.

Stanford ALWAYS gets the benefit of the doubt unless it's against South Carolina or UCONN. Been seeing it since Kate Starbird, probably happening before that too! Even with that, I still don't hold a grudge against their program. Class coach, class team, class act.

Totally agree. Only thing I would add is Yeaney played really well in that role against Oregon and fairly well against Stanford (she looked to score more). That (along with Gardiner) has really boosted the team as a whole. Shuler is coming in next season and Hunter might be good in the PG role. My thinking is Rueck should go after one in the portal as well.
