Vicki Maxon is something akin to "Den Mother" super fan for OSU WBB.....She knows all of the girls and they know her.... She seems to travel to almost every game - - every time I travel I see her in her orange leather jacket.... Her knowledge of basketball is not exceptional, but her knowledge of the players, and much of the staff, is. GO BEAVS!! Also decked out in lots of orange garb at home games, courtside (she sits in one of those folding chairs near the north side tables). Vicki seems to be a "superfan" for WBB similar to what Ika Fifita is to football ( pac-12.com/videos/hes-always-around-get-know-ika-fifita-oregon-states-super-fan) - at least by way of having access and internal insights, but with a major Facebook presence that only allows civilized interaction.... I'm not a big Facebook person (civilized interaction or not), but my spouse (who does enjoy Facebook) seems to know happenings re: WBB within moments of it occurring thanks to that group :-). Everyone has got all-consuming passions in life, we are fortunate for people like Ika and Vicki that theirs seems to be OSU sports programs. Go Beavers!

Speaking of Superfans... does anyone know who the tall, older man is that sits in the front row right behind the Beaver bench. He stands out because he is usually is standing up at every timeout and paying close attention to what is going on in the huddle. I met him once outside the doors and didn't get his name. I was impressed because he said he drove down from The Dalles for the game. I figure he must be a former player in some sport. He seems to know all of the coaches, Ron Callan, and many of the fans who stop by and talk to him.

Although, I think I could compete for a starting role on the OSU WBB Superfan team. Perhaps one of the first off the bench. I met Vicki this year by chance before the Phil Knight Legacy Tournament in Portland (at a McMenamins). Nice lady, and seems very well connected to players, players parents, etc.

I think we move you to a starter roll, lotrader, unless you prefer being a super sub like Raegan.

Better than a 50-50 chance we see #30.

Better than a 50-50 chance we see #30. I read that as her being cleared medically to play and it is the coach's decision if she's in playing shape. Is that accurate?

Have any of you ever met Vicki and talked to her? Just wondering how you would assess her basketball knowledge if not, because she has never mentioned that anywhere on her page. Also she’s been a booster (not just a fan) for I’d say at least 30 years. Pretty sure Timea will play this weekend or so I’ve heard.

Vicki knows her basketball. Been a booster for many years. She goes all the way back to Mary Covington (before Aki).

No, Vicki started going to games when Aki was the coach. Not Covington. One of her best friends was senior women’s administrator then, Patti Drapela French. Early 80s I’d say. When Ralph was still coaching the men. The Payton, AC, et al years.

Not arguing. Correcting. It’s the truth. I know when she started going to games and who one of her best friends was. I wouldn’t take the time to comment unless my information was correct. Just trying to keep some of the discussion on this page somewhat correct or verified. I’m too busy to argue for the sake of arguing, believe me!

I think Vicki knows as much as one can about the players, the families, the personalities. But I’m not sure she cares about things like what offense to run, who should start, whether someone can shoot a 3. They are all like her family.
