Asked is not equal to hoped for in many cases. I’m sorry to disappoint you but I really was looking for the basketball/WNBA angle on this news. That’s the only interest I have in Ms Griner, one of the greatest players in womens basketball history. The Rotating Tap board is “For sports topics not related to OSU”.

He’s got us on a technicality. I grossly overestimated interest in the WNBA/women’s pro basketball (non-OSU player related). Lesson learned. 🤙

Start with one drop before each post. Apply internally. Increase dosage as necessary. BTW, my looks have nothing to do with this topic. :&

How does anyone expect this topic discussion not go to geopolitics. The whole prison swap has little to do with the WNBA. And in all honesty, why not let the convo naturally flow there?

It may have "little to do with" the WNBA, but that little part - the sports part - was the part I was interested in. Similar to when Ali was banned from boxing for 3 years. Yes, by far the biggest aspect of that story was political but there WAS the boxing aspect of how his absence impacted the sport, and what his return would mean to the sport. Griner is no Ali (who is?) but she is inarguably one of the best players in WNBA history. In her absence, her team the Phoenix Mercury barely qualified for the playoffs and were swept in the first round. It'll be interesting to see how much difference her return makes to their record and their supporters.

Did she suffer any lasting affects from incarceration, torture, assault, illness or malnutrition?

Hopefully that will be sufficient time. Phoenix's current roster shows only one other center, 6'-3" Megan Gustafson, so unless they make some other roster moves, BG will move right back into her starting spot. mercury.wnba.com/roster/

The point of this prisoner release was totally missed. This is not about politics at all - this is about business. The military-industrial complex wanted this guy on the street because it's great for business. A win-win so to speak, you get an athlete back for the rubes who are not paying attention and the rich, well they get to profit from this guy's activity. If he's supplying the arms for one side, someone has got to do it for the other.
