I can't wait until he comes to Corvallis. And we play there next season. I'll be CU sells 5K more season tickets before Christmas. Their first two home games next season are Nebraska and CSU. Those are going to be tough tickets to find. He's one of the greatest CB/KR in NFL history, he's in numerous footballs HOFs, he played MLB, he's actually pretty entertaining on TV, and Jackson State is undefeated and his players seem to love him. Sometimes it is hard to be humble when you've accomplished as much as he has. Certainly very well accomplished ... per his Wikipedia page:

Whether I think it’s a good hire or not, one thing is for sure. It’s bringing a lot more attention to the PAC than it normally would. Like if they hired some DC from Illinois. That wouldn’t make a headline on ESPN. He’ll either be a failure/meltdown and be gone in 3 years or he’ll be a success and be gone in 3 years. Either way, Boulder is just a way station for “Coach Prime”.

We were a way station for Dennis. Worked out for us, too. Sometimes a short-term solution can lead to long-term success. And sometimes you gotta just roll the dice.

Wazzu hired Erickson for two years, and then recommended Mike Price to be hired as his replacement. Wazzu basically got 16 years of phenomenal coaching from the one hire. You have to watch out for your Neuheisals, but a splashy hire often works out well, even if it is for a short period of time.

I watched his first meeting with the Colorado players online (Youtube). One thing he told them was that the offseason was to get rid of the players who didn't belong. He told them that he brought their QB with him (but did say that he had to earn it). His whole attitude was that he was going to boot everyone who was not up to snuff and that there were a lot of guys on that list. By the end of it, there were a lot of nervous looking players in that meeting room. I know there are guys who respond well to that sort of motivational speech, but it felt like Sanders was paying Alec Baldwin in Glengarry Glen Ross and the CU players had been told that they were, at best, worth a set of steak knives.

These are the new footballs. And, they’re gold to you. You don’t get the new footballs, because to give them to you, would be a waste……

I too watched the introductory video: Very inspirational. Colorado made a splashy hire. But also a bit inconsistent - tells his players "no hats", while he is wearing one. Tells his players they must earn their spot on the team - very laudable - and then tells them he is bringing QB1 with him (his son). Will be interesting to see how this plays out.....from the comments reacting to the video, trending very positive. The guy has a track record bar none, so I won't say "talk is cheap", and Colorado is paying plenty for the talk (and presumably results). Go Beavers!

He must not remember or know of the great Dan Hawkins and his QB1.

I think he will bring great publicity to Colorado, and attract top notch coaches and players to Boulder. Imo,Neon Deion is part inspirational speaker, part minister, part used car salesman, and much more. He is a great hire for Colorado. He just isn't my cup of tea. A bit too arrogant for my taste.,.yes I know his accomplishments, but his act wears a bit thin with me. Yes I have met him in the 1990's and understand the appeal...just not for me. 2-3 years in Boulder then on to bigger things...

I think the jury is still out on his coaching ability. He can definitely recruit, which led to great success at the FCS level. He's going to have to coach up his players a little more at the FBS level. You can't just win on talent alone. He's either a good coach or a cristobal.....we shall see.

A lot of people criticize him for his style, which is way over the top, but he has a lot of substance, too, at least as far as coaching football is concerned.
