OSU should be GREAT at the sport! Recruiting is key, of course, but being a loyal servant just didn’t get it done. Gill is an awesome venue for volleyball, and it is a wildly popular sport in the PNW. Hope Barnes gets this one right.

Didn't realize he was here that long. Is there a Jimmy Anderson comparison? He was an assistant for about half of his tenure. We should be better. Great might be a stretch. There's not that much volleyball talent in Oregon. |

Some candidates were in town last week. Don't know names but I heard one is very familiar with the OSU program

Some candidates were in town last week. Don't know names but I heard one is very familiar with the OSU program No apparent urgency to hiring a new coach. Barnard may have announced his "retirement" over a month ago but I'm certain the AD knew this season was his last roundup one way or another for many, many months. I guess nobody inside or outside of the program cares about OSU Volleyball. I get the impression that the only reason OSU fields a team is because it's a required sport for Pac-12 conference membership. Maybe we could petition for a special exemption? |

The NCAA season just ended. The AD has been busy with the bowl game and renegotiating football contracts. It's the Christmas holiday season.
Barnes has a pretty good track record with hiring coaches. He didn't hurry when hiring a football coach either, but he got it right. How about we just let him do his job?

He didn't hurry when hiring a football coach either, but he got it right. How about we just let him do his job? As I said, he's very likely known that he was going to replace Barnard for the better part of a year. He better have someone onboard by mid-January at the absolute latest. But maybe you're right. After all, it's just volleyball. |

Ask and ye shall receive! Pitt has a great program. I'm sure she was on his radar from the start but she was coaching in the NCAA tournament and needed to be left alone until that tournament was over and Pitt didn't lose until Dec. 15, in the tournament semifinals. The AD did his job. From her bio: My favorite hobby outside of work is bike riding. My favorite trail to ride is the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. You get to ride along the rivers and enjoy the beautiful views. Lots of chances for that in Corvallis! I know an assistant from UC Irvine was also interviewed.
