I hate to say it but Jelena has been a liability in terms of rebounding and defense I don’t see it that way. I see time after time after time HI players trying to drive the lane and backing out when confronted by Jelena’s presence/height. They do back out, Jelena's 6-9 after all. But when the ball is kind of loose on a rebound, Jelena's just too slow. She just doesn't have the athletic ability to make smaller, quicker players pay. If she did, she would be elite. She's fine, but let's not act like she's the answer. This team really needs Timea (and Bendu) to get back on the court. |

Mit can’t jump? She is 6’9”, why can’t she get a rebound over 6’0” - 6’2” players? Beers will probably take over later the season.

I mean, it's a nice win, especially considering they were shorthanded and Hawaii's a decent team. Could have defended the 3 a little better, I guess, but sometimes teams just get hot.
Not a lot to get too excited about. Like what some of the freshmen did out there. Just seemed rough overall, which makes sense this early in the season.

Bottom line is we beat a good Hawaii team despite missing 2 of our starters and with very poor FT shooting and an unnecessary T on our coach costing us 2 pts. so have to be happy with the result. We'll be fine at the post this year even if Jelena dosen't improve---Raegan is solid and will only get better and just may be starting by year end.

Yeah, I would go with Beers and Gardiner more as the season moves forward, as long as they seem like they are living up to their potential to a reasonable degree. Jelena should get her time, but Rueck definitely needs others to go to when the match-up isn't good for Mitrovic. To me, she's a big that would typically come off the bench for most other programs. They are really going to miss the frontcourt players that left for a time this season, particularly Taya. Even KB with her rebounding a defense. Another big through the portal would have been a big help, IMO...even just to provide more depth. |

Do not like the offense running through Mic at the top of the arc. Needs to be someone that can punish defenders with the dribble from there, and Mic isn't that. Hopefully that's Gardiner's role when she's back. Who is Mic?? ̶ Mi t̶r̶o̶v̶i̶ c Figure a change in her nickname to a legend could help her rebounding game. |
