That’s a bad hire? Colorado went on two years' probation in 2002. The mechanisms that Neuheisel set up led to the 2004 recruiting scandal and Kate Hnida's allegations of rape, which destroyed Gary Barnett's tenure. (That and Barnett's complete failure to appreciate why it was an issue and speaking about it competently.) Colorado does not have a bowl win since 2004 at the now-defunct EV1.net Houston Bowl. Colorado's last real bowl victory was at the Insight.com Bowl back in 1999. The team basically entered free-fall once Neuheisel was hired and has not been able to figure out how to get out of that trajectory. |

The weasel coached there from 1995-1998, yet he was responsible for the 2004 recruiting scandal and Gary Barnett? Also, bowl victories in games that are now defunct still count as "real". We have a couple of those. Barnett went to 4 bowl games including a Fiesta Bowl. Not exactly a free fall. The free fall occurred with Dan Hawkins. |

And I will never forget. I am much more apt to believe that Neuheisel poisoned the well and Gary Barnett did little beyond failing identify and fix the problem in time than I am to believe that Barnett did anything wrong other than him putting his foot in his mouth. No one has facts to the contrary, so I believe that my assertion is correct. |
