Back on the court

I always thought that due to the higher rated players in front of her Jelena never got the time she deserved in the line up. Scott had a really quick hook with her. She was never allowed, until the end of last season when Jones was gone. to stay in long enough to develop any sort of rythem.

Also people under estimate the importance of position in respect to defense. There are many players who look like the are all over the court, but that is because they are always havng to adjust to being out of position. Streight line speed is not always that important in basketball. Having quick feet is moe important and Jelena has that along with quick hands.

The important thing about Jelena is that she has a high BBIQ and a good feel on proper spacing. Tall players always seem to mature physically and develop much later than shorter ones. Jelana is just probably shedding some of her baby fat. When her physical abilities catch up with her BB fundimentals and skills, she should be really good. You can not teach height.

While it was not good to lose Jones, losing her will certainly help Jelena's development. I thought Jones was pretty close to her ceiling already, except for developing better spacing and mental skills. Weather those can still be developed are not a sure thing. I do think that Jelena has an ultimately bigger upside than either Jones or Brown. Brown because she was obsessed with not playing in the post. Jones because she might have limited peripheral vision.Then there is the height factor which can not be minimized. If the opportunity to get more playing time did not open up, I suspected that Jelena would transfer out. I doubt Scott would never have sat Jones for Jelena based on how they played. He knew Jones woudl transfer out if she did not get massive playing time.I think Jelenas development might have played a factor in her transfer.

NCAA D1 teams have always been allowed two exhibition games. They can either be closed scrimmages against D1 opponents, open exhibitions against D2/NAIA opponents, or open exhibitions against D1 opponents if the proceeds benefit a charity.

I believe OSU usually does one D2/NAIA game for the public and a closed D1 game (TCU, Weber State, Montana State in the past).

I don’t care how good Rueck’s footwork is, him guarding Jovana is not a good matchup. Just sayin’
