SC football has been a crapfest the past few years, not like the days of old. USC and UCLA are still trying to milk their old street cred. UCLA still contends in baseball and basketball, though. SC football will be a power again with the right coach and attitude. Riley might be that guy,and SC finally decided to get a big time guy, instead of thinking anyone can lead the once powerful Trojans. No...they will never be the same as the days with Mike Garrett...Ricky Bell..Charles White...Marcus Allen etc. The right coach can put them in the top 5 in the country again consistently, since they have tons of money and sit in one of the three top recruiting hotbeds in the country. Ucla hasn't been relevant in basketball at a high level since the O'bannons and Toby Bailey were there. I know Cronin is a good coach and they had a nice run a couple years ago,but they aren't a powerhouse yet until they can consistently win at a very high level. I don't think it will be easy for either team to return to their days of glory, but I think Big 10 basketball is not its strong sport, so UCLA could compete there more easily than USC in football. Hell, the crazy Purdue guy will tell you how the Boilermakers are going to ruin USC's dreams of glory.

The PAC 12 is officially dead as we know it. Oregon State has very little appeal on the national level. Which will most likely relegate us to the Mountain West conference and their 5 million dollar per year tv deal. Athletic budget will need to get cut drastically. As a result, I think you will see kids in the 2023 recruiting classes and later start to de commit from Oregon State. I hope I’m wrong but our only chance in a total Big 12/PAC 12 merger which most likely won’t happen. Realignment will move quickly, we should know our fate within a few weeks. Enjoy the next two years while we are still a relevant national baseball program. I wouldn't be declaring anything "officially dead" just yet. First, I'd be shocked if the crazies of the California legislature did not weigh in on this. If Cal and Stanford stay put, the politics of this move get really interesting. Both UCLA and USC said to be leaving over an annual 50 million upside in revenue. How much money does UCLA get from the state? Over time, who the hell is going to live in So Cal anyway? The place is a mess and only going to get worse. Families who want to get out of there will continue to be open to sending their kids to play for the Beavs. We are in a strong enough position that we can get a home and home series with just about anyone we want. Completely different situation than when Casey took over. The other interesting question is, what does Oregon want to do, and whatever that is, will Phil Knight let them? Not seeing how any of this negatively impacts our baseball program for now. They are gone. It’s done.

They have Michigan, Mich St., Wisconsin and Purdue. All are consistently better than our top teams.

I still think it’s an easier path than tOSU, Michigan, Mich St., Wisconsin, Purdue, Iowa….in football. Only a couple gimmes in that league. Just Nebraska, Maryland, and Rutgers.
