Ole Miss just “trashed” their way to the final series. Yeah, everyone who loses six of their nine final weekend series and goes 0-fer at their Conference Tournament should get a shot. Yep! Participation trophies and ribbons for everyone! Trash inclusion. Trash team. Trash continued argument. Hopefully, they beat Oklahoma. This Tournament has been trash. The fact that Ole Miss' coach took until April to realize that not only should Dylan DeLucia should be a starter at all, DeLucia should be his ace..... Trash! Even if Ole Miss wins out, the Rebels will still finish six games behind the 2007 Beavers. Trash! They played 4 series against teams in the top 10 this year. We played zero in 2007. Their conference was a helluva lot tougher than ours was in 2007. Both teams probably shouldn’t have gotten in. We only got in because of 2006. So, if you think Ole Miss is trash, our 2007 team must have been trash. No team that is trash makes it to the final series. Your post is trash.

When I fly from Portland to Tokyo (4,811 miles away), I'm completely off the face of the earth. I think that's the shoulders of the earth. If you keep going, you could end up in the butt crack of the earth. Gotta be careful.

You 2 have my head spinning. The more You say the further we get from the subject of this thread. Interesting waste of words. I would give You both an A in words. In content not so much. Who don’t you call each other up have a Beer together and spare us.

"The face of the Earth" is a phrase. You can use the expression "on the face of the earth" to mean "in the whole world," when you are emphasizing a statement that you are making or making a very exaggerated statement. An example would be: No human being on the face of the earth could do anything worse than what he did. The phrase "the face of the Earth" carries that meaning when precided with a word like "from" or "on" but not "across." Here is a Washington Post article, which uses the term "Across the Face of the Earth" to carry a completely different meaning. In the Washington Post article, it means Earth's singular face, not the entirety of the Earth. The cited example is using the phrase to mean the surface of the earth. It isn't a good usage of the term, and your conclusion (that it means "Earth's singular face") is wrong. Obviously, in the article, the author uses the term to mean the surface of the Earth in the range of the eclipse, which is scaled further down to "from Oregon to Missouri." That's not even a singular continent or "face" of the Earth. Since the phrase is used to include the entirety of the Earth, you can see why this usage is incongruent with the phrase. Being more exact would have been better, but it's only an interest article. I wouldn't call her even if she were the last person on the face of the earth. The endangered Beaver fan has disappeared from the face of the earth. These usages exemplify the totality that is implied in the expression. To suggest that "face of the earth" can be used to represent just one continent or one view of Earth doesn't align with the common usage or the dictionary. So when it does happen, as in the article above, it is spelled out or limited more clearly within. Otherwise, we're talking the whole planet. Just my opinion.

FYI, the Pac-10 had nine baseball teams in 2007. OSU, ASU, UCLA and Arizona made the NCAA tournament.
OSU and ASU advanced to the CWS. UCLA won its regional and advanced to a Super Regional. Arizona lost in the regional championship game.
Before the CWS, the Pac-10 had a combined 16-5 record in the tournament. OSU steamrolled opponents from the Big West and ACC en route to the title.
The Pac-10 was pretty darn good in 2007.

Will be entertaining. Will see if Mississippi has other good pitchers. Oklahoma has won softball title and it would be cool and unusual for this to occur in Baseball. It seems to Me that teams that get hot at right time trumps teams that have done it all year. Ie Stanford. Or or OSU 2017 a great team. Should we have fired Yeskie or bitch about the coaching? I think not.

I checked with a friend who teaches in a university astronomy department of some renown. He says the face of the earth is the same as face of a sphere, it means the surface area. Also Said the face doesn’t really apply well to a sphere at all and should be used on shapes with flat planes unless the sphere or spheroid is in an established coordinate plane.
For instance saying “the north face of Mt. Bachelor”.
“The face of the earth towards the sun.
Saying “the face” of a spheroid makes no sense unless mean surface area or establish a coordinate system.

I have a better idea! Let's bitch about the 2 pitches that keep us out of the CWS. Sonny D's Big Flies.
Sonny D managed only 3 hits in the CWS. Seems they figured out not to throw fast balls to the young man. Oh well.......

So, it became a BP fastball.

It seems to Me that teams that get hot at right time trumps teams that have done it all year. Ie Stanford. Or or OSU 2017 a great team. Should we have fired Yeskie or bitch about the coaching? I think not. I caught part of a sports talk program the other day on AM radio in which they were discussing the qualities/benefits of winning a lot of games all season long or just making it to the playoffs and winning it all. The host was trying to make the point that there is a great value to being constantly at the top, even if you don't win it all. He gave an example with one of the NFL teams...Saints, maybe or some team like that with a great quarterback that always finished top of their division, but didn't fare well in the post season. I think his argument has merit. Getting hot at the right time is kinda what the Beavers did to get to the Elite 8 in mbb. But it didn't carry over to the following year. There was no consistency. Baseball is all about consistency. Building consistency into a program is hard, but keeping your name at the top of the league carries more credence than getting hot at the right time. So Tennessee, Stanford, OSU, and all those teams that performed well through the daily grind of the regular schedule deserve our respect. As do the teams that got hot at the right time and could capitalize on whatever weakness in their opponent that they found. They are still standing. Hats off to them!
