Oregon State finished tied for sixth in the Pac-10 in 2007 but Washington and Washington State were ineligible, so it was really fifth. Plus, Oregon State went 28-3 in nonconference play. Ole Miss went 18-6. Then they shipped Oregon State almost 2,803 miles to the East (more than 35% across the face of the Earth) to play in Charlottesville.Do they ship Ole Miss up to Corvallis or over to Stanford? Nope. They get to play ball in Coral Gables. It is trash that Ole Miss got in. It is trash that they got mollycoddled, while 2007 Oregon State got thrown to the wolves. Your apples are not oranges, no matter how much you wish them to be. Ole Miss is trash. The SEC bias is trash. I still hope that someone beats Arkansas, whether it be Ole Miss or Oklahoma. Huh? You have a degree from OSU? (joking, kind of) Portland to Charlottesville is 2304 airmiles. I couldn't find a number for Corvallis airport. The circumference of earth is about 24,900 miles (It varies depending on where you measure). I'm not sure where you get >35%. “Alternative Facts”.

Did you learn to write in Europe? They are "Alternative Facts" inasmuch as they are correct facts. ag87 bennycat Judge Smails I have the distance as 2,343, which appears more correct than the distance numerator that I originally used. The face of the earth, i.e. the amount of earth that anyone can see at any given time, is measured by diameter, not circumference, approximately 7,917.5 miles. (It varies on where you measure, like ag87 quite correctly stated.) The distance across, not the distance around. (Also, no one has ever seen the one full face of the Earth, because you would have to be infinitely far away to see the full face of the Earth, but I will use the full diameter anyway, because it is easier mathematically.) 7,917.5 is also the true maximum distance from any point on Earth to the opposite side of the the Earth. The opposite side of the globe is only 7,917.5 miles away. My number is wrong, because I took a different number than miles as a crow would fly, but it is still almost 30% across the face of the Earth. That is different than saying something like "around the Earth," in which case I would quibble but your numbers would be more correct. Also the error in the denominator being bandied about by the other posters is that Charlottesville is 38° 1′ 48″ North and Oregon State is 44° 33′ 57″ North. The circumference of the Earth along 38° 1′ 48″ is only 19,440 miles. The circumference of the Earth along 44° 33′ 57″ is only 17,640 miles. That is to say that Earth rotates about its axis approximately 19,440 miles at Charlottesville and approximately 17,640 miles at Corvallis. I personally have often wondered whether the difference in speed of rotation would effect time dilation, but I am pretty sure that the Earth's orbital velocity probably more than washes out the delta. I am digressing. No. I intentionally said what I said, and everyone else is using the incorrect distance denominator, because they are intentionally or unintentionally obtuse.

I suppose I should add that 2018 Oregon State finished with 59 runs, the third-most runs in College World Series history. Only 1998 USC and 2008 Fresno State scored more. Hopefully, Oregon State will break USC and Fresno State's record in 2028.Is next year too soon? 1998 USC 2008 Fresno State 2018 Oregon State 2028 ? ? ? ? ? ? ? I figured that it was just based on the once-a-decade scoring thing.

Never seen , “face of the earth”, used as a distance across the visible area from a point in space. The phrase is older than space flight and has always referred to total surface area or volume of the earth.
“He fell off the face of the earth” means they disappeared and can’t be found on the planet not that me moved to a different solid angle intersection with a planet from a specific origin point in space.
I’ll give you 10 points for creative doubling down though wilky. Sounded smart but made no sense.

Here is your chance New Mexico. Fresno State was in the WAC for baseball in 2008. It didn't join MWC baseball until 2013. So here's your chance Seattle U or Grand Canyon.

Sometimes opportunity rears it’s ugly head. Never know for sure. Things have worked out for Him. Regarding Doorman He has done His job with what we have. We struggled the last 4 weeks. Tough competition and 7,&,and 9 batting woes. Pitching also was not as good. Especially Arizona and that UCLA game that we will never forget. Cannot blame anyone but the players. Sometimes we have to blame those in charge. Ever read Abgry Beavers? Miserable.
