Rio Britton for hole is in there...2nd best arm in their pen....Portland area kid, would love to see him move up the road as a lefty in our pen Rio Britton led the Duxs in appearances in 2022 (34) - though not a closer (only 1 save). .188 BAA with a 1.14 WHIP. His entry into Portal is obviously not for one of the typical reasons (more playing time). He's from the (greater) Sacramento area (not Portland from what I've seen). Maybe he knows Donkey ?!?!

Perfect game lists those they know about.
Prep Baseball Report lists those they know about.
Other sites - ditto.
The Music Man lists everyone of them that the Beaver coaches know about. Well . . . maybe, almost all of them.
LOL, LOL
Every one of them has been announced on Benny's Recruiting Board You will have to scroll back a ways but they are all in there.

GPS time: recalculating . . . 15 incoming is inaccurate. We are scheduled to welcome 18 high school recruits and 2 transfers. Our total is 20 minus any draft and sign losses. I come up with slightly different numbers. Agree on the high school recruits at 18, but I have 4 transfers. Rhett Larson from LBCC, committed last December. Geo Rivera from Walter State CC, committed in April Noah Ferguson from PLU, just recently. Isaiah Burke from MHCC, just recently.

My bad, was thinking of someone else...still think he should move 45 minutes north, ...it could be Starting vs Pen as far as playing time?

Originally at Old Dominion. 97 mph fastball allegedly. Tons of strikeouts, 89 in 58.1 innings. Just 15 walks.
Here's a 96 mph fastball from last month.
Oops, could have scrolled further. Definite OSU commit. And I love that he goes through and thanks everybody who wishes him well. Sounds like a winner.

I doubt the Beaver staff will fill up their shopping cart in the Portal, but good pitching is an item every program can put to good use, and something they might indulge in. There are some golden opportunities to beef up your front end rotation or your back end relief corps.
Among some of the the instant help pitchers already in the transfer portal, is UCLA RHP Thatcher Hurd. Hurd was one of the best prep pitchers in California a year ago and was headed for a Freshman All American season this year before an injury shut him down in late March.
There are two of weekend starters in the transfer portal from Minnesota. Sam Ireland and J.P. Massey, who combined for 25 starts this season. Both have the potential to bolster a starting rotation immediately.
I would guesstimate there might be 12-15 arms in the Portal that would fit into our program nicely

OK, we agree on 18 preps? I believe 6 or 7 are walk-ons. 4 Xfers would bring us to 22 total. I had 3 transfers but neglected to add Burke to Larson and Ferguson. I posted this on June 4th on Burke.

It appears the Oregon State coaches are still adding a few selected walk-on players to the 2022 class that will be reporting shortly.
ISAIAH BURKE is a 5-11, 185 pound catcher from Mt. Hood Community College that played one year for the Saints and Head Coach Brian Donohue following graduation from Springfield-Thurston HS. He has 4 years to play 3 in terms of eligibility,
With Gavin Logan's status for 2023 TBD, we have catchers Tanner Smith and Wilson Weber returning. Burke will be the only catcher in the 2022 class but the position-versatile Easton Talt may hold some interest for the staff since he's played the position before. In the '23 class, the Beavers bring in Anthony Marnell Jr. from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas and Evan Gustafson from Eau Claire - Altoona in Wisconson.
Isaiah Burke's 2022 stats were: 49 gms. 212 PA, 50-177 and .282 BA, 17 dbl, 2 trp, 4 HR, 17 BB, 11 HBP, 30 K, 45 RBI, 33 R. 3/5 SBA. Slash was .282/ 373/ .469 Fielding % was .994 (e errors on 342 chances). Good student with 3.9 GPA at Thurston HS.
Rivera - that was a surprise, I missed that one completely.

Anyone have any additional info about Kian Hogan? Prep Baseball Report lists him as an Oregon State commit but I haven't seen anything official announced by the school like with his LBCC teammate Rhett Larson. Hogan is a 6'0 180 lb LHP from San Diego 9-1 W-L, 66.0 IP, 46 H, 8 ER, 26 BB, 64 K, ERA 1.09, BAA 0.195 so nice stats, I'd give him a hard look. Rhett Larson 6'2 190lb RHP from Forest Grove 7-1 W-L, 71.1 IP, 71 H, 17 ER, 4 BB, 65 K, ERA 2.14, BAA 0.258

Greg Fuchs becomes the 4th Beaver listed on the D-1 BB transfer tracker.
My opinion (100% uninformed by inside info): He could be a rousing success at a place like Northwest Nazarene, where Billy King parlayed his final Monster college season into a 24 game professional career.
p.s. I'm not being facetious. Players like Billy King and Greg Fuchs can sometimes respond to the correct 'fit'.

Fuchs should have his degree, he's a four-year guy. Still has two years of eligibility left (redshirted, Covid season). He's probably reached his ceiling here. He'd mash at a place like PLU or Linfield, find a good graduate program, get the MA while playing, maybe try Seattle U.
Best of luck, he seems like a good guy and I never questioned his effort.

Having watched him play defense in person, I question his effort. I also question his camaraderie. It seems like he gave up partway through the year. Specifically, it seems like he does not want to try and play defense. And it does not seem like he likes his teammates, or his teammates do not like him. (It seemed to me that it was the former.) I did not like Derne being subbed out for Fuchs at the end of game three. Derne had almost no chance to hit Burkhalter, but I had a much better feeling that Derne would at least do everything that he could to win. Fuchs.............Fuchs gave up before the Regional started..........Like, oh, let's say April. I got such a bad feeling watching him play. I don't know what the coaches saw, but he loafed and it seemed like he was abrasive to the other players. There are like 20 guys who seemed like they would give 110% every single play, who liked to play baseball with one another, pretty much everyone on the team. And then there was Fuchs. He was not one of the 20. He needs to go somewhere else, where hopefully he will get along better with everyone else and buy in. I don't think that he can play for MC next year, and I do not particularly want him to.
