Oregon State finishes 2022 48-18, tied for the third-best 66-game start in program history behind only the 53-12-1 start in 2018 and the 50-16 conclusion to the 2006 season. 2007 Oregon State also started 48-18. Game 67 was the National Championship Series Game Two victory over North Carolina. In 2018, game 67 was the 5-3 win over Arkansas in game two.
Best 66-game starts in program history:
53-12-1 2018 (National Champions).
50-16 2006 (National Champions).
48-18 2007 (National Champions) and 2022 (lost Corvallis Super Regional).
The 2022 Beavers were one win over Auburn away from logging one of the greatest seasons in Oregon State history.

Personal opinion of course...I thought this team was really good. But not great like some other Beaver teams the past 20 years or so.
One of the things this team did really well that I don't recall observing in years past was its plate patience...although tonight not so much. I'm sure maybe walk statistics would bear that out but man...like Forrester today, unreal how he recognizes the strike zone.
Oh well, fun year for sure. Thanks to MC and the boys for a magic ride and best of luck to those that move on to the next level.

I thought this team was a good team…..not a great one though. Our 7..8..9 hitters were pretty weak compared to some of our great teams. While we dominated most of the Pac-12 teams, including the Ucks, we just couldn’t put away the top three teams….. that bode true in the super regional. We were fortunate to get out of our regional….barely squeaked by New Mexico State.
That being said, it was a great year to be a Beaver fan. MC and company are continuing to learn…..this is a young team so I expect next year to be a good one…..just having a hard time letting go of this year

Clutch hitting was key in the championship teams..This one didn't seem to have it at times.. I think, especially in the latter half of the season, this year's team struggled when down. They didn't seem to have that player who would lift the team up and keep the energy up. Our 2018 team had that. And clutch hitting. |

Since this is baseball, shouldn't we just add losses to the 2017 team's total to get to 66 games like they would add outs for a batting title if the batter didn't have the requisite 502 plate appearances to qualify for the title? So, I say 2017 56-6 (add 4 losses) = 56-10 would qualify as the best 66 game start in history. |

Yeah this topic is a bit misleading…..sounds like we had third best record but this doesn’t include the 2017 record which is the one that always sets the bar for comparison to other years.
The 2017 and 2018 teams were a great group.
RGeorge has been quiet….. I would like to get your take on how this years stands out

Oregon finished fourth, two games ahead of Arizona. |

We were really good until last two series. Than we played a lot like last night. Errors and walks. UCLA,Arizona,pac 12,regional, than super regional. Still good.

We made 1 error last night and gave up 2 walks. We did also give up 2 HBP's, but one of them should have been a strike as the batter attempted to bunt it. Errors and walks did not cost us that game. Lack of timely hits did. |

Oregon State had more opportunities to score and didn't get it done. But Auburn did not convert their runners in scoring position either. That game was not our pitching, the umps or anything else other than us not getting a key hit or a break. Sometimes you lose and there is no one to blame but yourselves. This was the case last night.
