Jacob Melton is now projected to be the 25th selection in the first round of the MLB Draft later this month. Melton is predicted to be the 4th collegiate outfielder off the board, following No. 9 Gavin Cross from Virginia Tech, No. 14 Chase DeLauter from James Madison, No. 21 Drew Gilbert from Tennessee.
Cooper Hjerpe is projected to come off the board with the 31st selection of the first round and the first of the Compensatory Round picks. Hjerpe will be the 5th college pitcher selected following No. 20 Gabriel Hughes from Gonzaga, No. 22 Landon Sims from Mississippi State, No. 27 Justin Campbell from Oklahoma State, and No. 30 Carson Whisenhunt from East Carolina.
From what I am seeing, both Melton and Hjerpe are still gaining ground in the draft and may move up from the current projection. Hjerpe in particular may not last until the 31st selection. No other Beaver players are listed in this Baseball America Top-100 Mock Draft.
OSU recruit Gavin Turley, an outfielder from Hamilton HS in Chandler, AZ. is projected to be the 87th pick in the draft. Three other Beaver recruits are expected to be drafted. RHP Tyler Gough from J. Serra HS in San Juan Capistrano, CA. IF/OF Dallas Macias from Regis-Jesuit HS in Aurora, CO. and LHP Nelson Keljo from Jersuit HS in Portland. The "worry beads" are out for the 5-Tool Turley.

Appears Hjerpe is the top draft eligible pitcher still alive in the CWS. Hopefully that turns into a good omen.

With Gilbert and Susac going 1st round that's quite a "what-if" scenario if PC had stuck around...

You think Pat would have tolerated Gilbert's BS?

You think Pat would have tolerated Gilbert's BS? Nope. He would've either conformed to the culture or transferred out. Plenty of bad attitudes have left the program over the years.

You think Pat would have tolerated Gilbert's BS? nope and in this alternate universe of mine PC benches him as a freshman to send a message and now he's just a fiery upperclassman without the antics.

Mayhaps. He and Nobach really butted heads and they worked it out. And I am not comparing Nobach to Gilbert.

Frankly, I don't expect Macias, Keljo or Gough to sign. I think they will all suit up at Oregon State in 2023.
Turley? hopeful, but whole different situation there.

How many Beavers will end up on the Knight's roster?
So far, Tyree-King-Reed, Ryan Brown, Sam Stuhr, Ely Kennel, Nelson Keljo, Tyler Gough, and Rhett Larsen. I'm sure I missed some.
Help!

From what I hear, King-Reed is hurt, Stuhr is going to play in Okatoks and Gough is staying home to prepare for the draft and maybe going to Driveline. I haven't seen Rhett Larsen on any Knights roster. Brown, Kennel, Keljo and Ian Lawson are playing.

Yea, but then maybe you don't go after Melton. Why not? I don't think it would have been a hard sell. Melton was not a high-level recruit. He may have chosen to go elsewhere or we may have not pursued him if you had Gilbert here.
