Where is this hidden beer stand? If he tells you, it will no longer be hidden. 😉 How about a Fresca instead? They don’t serve Fresca at Beaver games. Ditch diggers.

I noticed "consistent velocity" was down for both Hjerpe & Brown last night. Ferrer also looked a little off with his slider command. I also noticed this with Jake Thompson at the CWS in 2017. It wasn't that he couldn't throw 92 or 93 but many times it was 89.(Just like Hjerpe & Brown last night) Its one of the reasons our bats, defense, & base running better improve........ Fast. The innings are catching up with our pitching staff. Those innings are also acerbated by the absence of Frisch & Mundt.(Quality pitchers from 2021) We may regret having those 5 games in Scottsdale last weekend instead of 3 without a tournament. (If we go 3-0 this weekend, the dynamics change for the Super Regional in our favor) How do you regret games you had no option in choosing? OSU could have only played (4) except... yeah well! It's baseball, it's a grind. Teams certainly do not make excuses. There was no disadvantage in playing as other teams were doing the same. And, F & M weren't here all season, so their absence is a moot point. OSU just has picked a poor time to not be playing its best. Point taken. I was an opponent of the tournament until this year, after listening to Wilky over the years I became a proponent.(Its moot till after 2024, anyway) You're correct about our coaches & players not making excuses, they won't. Fans are a different breed of animal from players & coaches, though.(We get to bitch) You "poo poo" two pitchers that gave us substantial innings last year, for replacements that haven't done it before.(Innings take a toll, buddy) The 3 Beav pitchers last night either had a "slow gun" or have "lost stuff. "We'll find out shortly how it unfolds." (personally, I think we got our mulligan, and we'll be fine)

Cooper was still very good, just not as good as he has been. Still had 10 K’s in 6 2/3’s.

I was more pissed about the lack of offense last night. Maybe Goss, cold, dampness, and unfamiliar pitching makes our offense worse than in Tucson or Scottsdale. It wouldn't surprise because I've seen it before at Goss.

We got enough hits, just not at the right time. Could not come up with the timely hit.

Exactly.. just in the 7th inning alone when NMSU took 3-2 lead bases were loaded because of a walk and back to back HBP

If Oregon State had only played three last week, Hjerpe likely throws on Thursday, which is exactly what he did in Scottsdale. If Hjerpe's velo is down, then it is probably caused by something other than playing five games in Scottsdale. In my mind, Hjerpe looked rough, because the conditions for him are not ideal. The cold is great for a fly ball pitcher. But when you are not a 95 mph fireball pitcher, location tends to suffer in the wet. The ball is harder to grip and manipulate and the wet can alter where the ball winds up. The offense looked bad. Watching the presser, although he did not call out Bazzana by name, Mitchy Slick was very hard on Bazzana. And for good reason. The pickoff. The over-sliding the bag. The almost getting doubled off to end the 10th. Yuck. Bazzana was great in getting on but gifted New Mexico State two outs and almost gifted the Aggies a back-breaking third.

It's not like we lost them mid season and caused other pitchers to throw more pitches. They were never part of the active roster, hence made no contributions and allowed others to grow/contribute. No way to even begin to measure the +/- of that. As far as last night... pitchers are not machines... their velocity has a range and is not only affected by a season long grind, but weather conditions. Especially wet, "heavy" air, and temp drop of 40 degrees. The ball and body do not respond the same. But, again since F&M never threw all year their absence really has zero measureable relevance. Our staff was rested. The tourney ended on Sunday evening, and we began play on Friday evening. Pretty normal schedule. I was certainly not "poo pooing" anyone, as there was nothing they did to allow judgement. However it unfolds, rarely does a undeserving team (ever?) end up in Omaha. As we've seen, the team that gets hot, gets a break or two, goes far no matter their seasonal record. If OSU is truly a #2 ranked team, or #3 overall "seed" they should, as someone earlier posted, treat these teams as "road kill" on the way.
