So, maybe using Hjerpe was the right move It was always the right move.

We keep d#*king around! Why in holy hell didn't Brown start the ninth? That is why UCLA beat Oregon State 25-22. That is why this is a tie ballgame. I do not f#*king understand the logic, if there is any. We are watching some p#*s-poor situational coaching. It's the same s#*t all damned season long. Nevada, UCLA and now New Mexico State. Quit trying to be cute, and just have your closer close it out. Damnit! We had a 9 run lead against UCLA. This is nowhere close to the same situation. You are right. New Mexico State was even dumber. Better results, though. 10 innings and a win > 10 innings and a loss. Only 22 pitches from Brown. Not great, not terrible. He's still got 20-25 in him tomorrow. But damn. Some unnecessary wear and tear on everyone.

So, maybe using Hjerpe was the right move It was always the right move. Hjerpe matched up better against New Mexico State than the other two teams. San Diego throwing Mautz to beat Vandy was the clincher. Kmatz or Pfennigs is better than the Toreros' #2. Use this game to get your head right, Beavs!

Thank god that game finally ended so I can watch my women’s lacrosse. In many ways, it is far more entertaining than the Oregon State game I just watched.

Whatever, Beavs win. It took a walk off to beat UT-San Antonio in 2013. They'll be alright.

Omaha is a long torturous road. There will be games like this along the way. The trick is to find a way to win when you aren't playing your best baseball. Tonight was one of those games.
NMSU is a better team than their record indicates. They are not a good hitting team but play decently on defense and have at least one pitcher that can throw 120 pitches against a pretty potent hitting team.
We made a couple of baserunning mistakes, didn't get the needed one hit with men in scoring position that would have ended the game in 8.5 innings. I also thought we missed a couple of coaching moves that might have helped us, but not knowing all the circumstances surrounding a coaching decision, I am loathe to second guess a coach. They have their reasons for doing what they do.
We won, we advance and lessons were learned. I'm happy with that!

Whatever, Beavs win. It took a walk off to beat UT-San Antonio in 2013. They'll be alright. Oregon State beat Ohio State on a Shea McFeely home run in the bottom of the ninth to win 4-3 in 2005. Oregon State beat Wright State on a two-out Chris Kunda two-run double in the bottom of the eighth to win 5-3 in 2006. Oregon State beat Texas-San Antonio on a Dylan Davis double to score two in the bottom of the ninth to win 5-4 in 2013. The Beavers threw their ace in each game and won the next game. 2013 tracks very well. Oregon State beat the WAC Champion, Texas-San Antonio (in Texas-San Antonio's lone season in the WAC) in game one 5-4. (That game was even more dire, because the Beavers entered the ninth down 4-3. Texas-San Antonio went ahead 4-3 in the eighth on two eighth inning errors.) The win set up a game with a team from California (Santa Barbara) who had just beat an SEC team (Texas A&M). In the Saturday game against Santa Barbara, Andrew Moore threw eight innings and allowed two runs, one earned, which was just long enough for Danny Hayes to finally bring home the game-winner on a bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth. Having burned their closer in game one, Oregon State brought in Max Engelbrekt to pitch a perfect 1-2-3 ninth for his final save in 2013. A&M beat Texas-San Antonio and Santa Barbara before bowing out 6-1 in what turned out to be the 2013 Corvallis Regional Championship Game.

Credit to NMSU. Their starting pitcher was lights out. And he got a nice ovation from the Beaver fans when he finally came out of the game, to which he acknowledged that fact. Classy!

Canham said that he was hoping that Ferrer could close it out, and they could save Brown an appearance, so Brown would be fresh for San Diego. To me, that is penny smart and dollar foolish. You already started Hjerpe. And Vandy is in the losers' bracket. You absolutely need the win. But the results will speak for themselves.

Lots of things to clean up. I wonder if Melton is playing through injury? Also our play is tight. New Mexico State played their butts off. Kudos to their pitcher. They and San Diego tonight are tough outs. Our play defensively and on offense must get better. If we play like we are going back to last series Arizona and Pac12 tourney …… we’ll I do not see us out of super regional. This is the time to shine. We have played this way into 3 rd week. I hope I am proven wrong.

Is Hjerpe getting worn down with the season? Is that why he's fading a bit early? Or are the batters figuring out his stuff by the later parts of the game? He was pretty efficient early.
