I'm starting to think she's a walk-on. The official team channels have yet to post about her.

I'm starting to think she's a walk-on. The official team channels have yet to post about her. That seems really unlikely. She'd be going from being a paid pro (and European leagues typically pay much more than the WNBA) to not getting paid AND paying for school just for the privilege of playing at OSU? (there's no tuition in German Universities) That's a deal that would be a hard pass for most.

Serious reach for her squatty stats. There are so many goOD PG AND WINGS in US of A I see some frigility here with Rueck has to recruit a player he would have a lot harder time evaluating, then in the states.things seem to be getting more difficult with Rueck keeping good players and not even looking over the ones in the portal before going to Europe. But Donavan is a good choice coming up if she stays healthy! You compare the prowess of the fulfilling portal needs of Arizona and USC Washington and regular recruiting of UCLA AND CAL and ducks WITH REGARD TO THEIR GUARD NEEDS I don’t see us competing very well. Their are horizon signs that things aren’t adding up here! I just don’t think a coach can be carried by his past exploits. Reason being just like with Riley in football some coaches are to stubborn to change tweat a system when their system stops attracting the right players or start losing good recruits for unknown reasons. one man’s opinion. I await the firing squad.
My dad coached more than six hundred games over 50 years and some of you old folks probably knew him or my brother. But over that period the one thing that I admired from him. (He coached 20+ years in so cal the Santa Anna vally league when it was 4A and a damn tough league between 1955 - 1960. Then to the crest view league in three aaa. that he worked his daredest to find ANY LEGAL moral way to win. That meant my pops changed sometimes his system to find ways to win. He was never stuck or bound by any of his fundamental beliefs. But often on the offensive side tweaked things to get more out of his kids. He was very religious though defensively. Since where we grew up in Orange County there were never a shortage of quick speedy kids. So he loved to press and huge proponant of transition game. His favorite mentor was Johnny Wooden. Talk about transition.

Talk about transition. Your Dad coached hoops? From "press" and "transition" I'd say I'm good there! Lol Just asking as your numbers don't make sense in terms of Oregon hoops. I get "over" 600, but overn50 years makes it only 12+ games per. 600 games here is a good hoops program for about 20 years, counting post-seasons. Think you might be short changing your Pops! But, agreed. This is an unremarkable signing as of now. You never know how a player turns out, but... Bottom line, unless some new signee(s) show our Frosh have to really become Pac12 players fast.

I think by now it's pretty clear that SR is only willing to take on graduate students from the portal unless they are really outstanding (ie national freshman player of year).
And from the rate that players who've switched once are willing to switch again I'd say he's not crazy to be leery of investing in a non-graduate transfer.

Free yr transfer is a one time option. If players "use" the portal, so can coaches "use" talented players. Even if it's for a year. I'm not sure what "investment" is really taking place. Both parties are benefiting and hopefully you get to keep them around more than one season. I don't see the difference of a grad transfer vs another talent who leaves after one season. Except one has the chance for multiple seasons.

My brother had frigility once, but the doctor gave him some pills and he got over it pretty quickly. He said it was kind of like having a cold.

Except one has the chance for multiple seasons. Point 1- SR doesn't seem to want to take on non-graduate students. Point 2- Why? Point 3- Graduate students go to a different university because that's considered a good idea for any student. So they probably aren't transferring due to any unhappiness about the last team that they might transfer to the new school. Regular student transfers have a decent chance to be unhappy sorts. Why bring trouble on to the team? I'm not trying to say this is the right or wrong way to look at transfers, just trying to understand how SR sees it. "I'm not sure what "investment" is really taking place" You don't think coaches invest in there players? If coaches make no difference then why do we have them?

Talk about transition. I'm fine with Scott being picky about who he adds to the roster. Just because a lady in the portal was highly regarded coming out of high school doesn't mean she will be a good asset to our locker room. None of us has any idea how good this young lady in Pietsch is...film and reputed attributes mean nothing. The staff saw something in her they liked...I atleast want to see her in person before I judge her. Some athletes in the portal will be a pain in the A@@ to coach or won't be unselfish. I'm fine not adding those type of athletes and having 11 on the roster with a cohesive team.
