The years that I've paid attention to the uniforms for the day, it always seems to be that we wear three. One day is the white. One is orange. And one is black. So does the day 3 starter really have an option? Can Pfennigs opt for a second showing of the orange uniform or the white? Or perhaps a fourth option? Oregon State also has a road grinder gray. The Beavers have worn the same jersey on consecutive days before. The most famous example that I can think of is Oregon State wearing grinder gray on both Wednesday and Thursday against Arkansas, even though the Beavers were the home team on Thursday. A fun fact is that the teams that wore gray lost two of the first three but then were a perfect 11-0 at Omaha. Only one home team won a game over the final 13 games and that was Oregon State beating Mississippi State 12-2 after the Bulldogs chose to wear dark maroon as their road uniforms. Oregon State finished 2018 in Omaha 5-0 in grinder gray, 1-0 in white and 0-2 in black. The Wednesday game against Arkansas ended at 10:15 p.m. The jerseys were ready for a 5:30 p.m. start on Thursday. The Saturday uniforms may not be ready by Sunday on a typical weekend, because the Sunday games tend to start earlier. those Grays are nice for baseball and softball. Sharp looking unis.

I love our uniforms, especially the white, orange, and black. I'm sure that these days with the advancements in uniform-making the black can't be too terrible. But I'm superstitious. LH chose black. LH didn't throw so well in Omaha. More than the uniform, though, I suspect the players just have to adapt to the heat. Arizona is going to be hard for guys who are used to 60 and 70 degree high temperatures...and that was during the best part of the year! I hope that they are already there getting used to the heat.

The uniform excuse is getting really old. The unis have a lot of cooling tech built into them. It is not like wearing a black cotton t-shirt. Do you think if the coaches believed that the black unis were a factor that they would continue to let them wear them? I don't think our coaches are that stupid. I suppose it comes with the... Pac12 regular season title isn't important... D1 or other earlier praised and knowledgeable sites have suddenly screwed us. If OSU doesn't win or do well this week it'll probably be more of the same sort of stuff.... the Pac12 tourney is stupid... now that OSU doesn't need it for the postseason why play... even though the former highly esteemed HC was all in favor. Of course the converse holds... win this thing and it catapults OSU forward with great momentum... "we're Champs... inaugural Pac12 tourney Champs!" Exactly what fan boards are... Go Beavs I will go on record before the first game of the tournament starts... I like it. I think every successful team at Oregon State has had to arrive on the big stage and stumble before they figured it out. 2005 was 2 and cue 2013 never hit there potential in my opinion 2017 had as much or more talent than 2018. In 2022, leading the conference race in the final 2 weeks I think we watched a less experienced group stumble a bit under the pressure. So, the tournament gives you the chance to be on the road, in a tournament setting, knowing it is 2 losses and you leave, but it isn't for all the marbles yet. Kids grow into playing through the stress... they need reps. This gives us that and for the teams scrambling to get in to the big dance... let em play and decide on the field. Who knows... one day we will be on the bubble again and play our way into the big tourney. Good stuff.
