Jaren Hunter will start Wednesday. I agree. And if we get another gem from him. We are really set up. Although I wonder if UCLA has a similar thought in mind with Rajic.

Jaren Hunter will start Wednesday. Be some big trust but I'm not really against it and he's the most rested starter. Grand Canyon, Nevada and Gonzaga roughed him up, but he shut out Wazzu and Oregon (the Pac-12's best offense) twice. Hunter has it in him to throw 6-7 great innings against Washington. And, unlike the other three obvious choices, the Husky hitters have not seen Hunter throw in person. You set up for the postseason. Hjerpe throws Thursday (hopefully at night). If Oregon State starts 2-0, you probably throw Kmatz on Saturday. Pfennigs throws next, whether it is Saturday or Sunday. If you need a fifth pitcher, you throw Ferrer or whoever still has a fresh arm. If there is a game on Friday, Kmatz throws. Ferrer or Pfennigs throws early Saturday afternoon. If there is a second game on Saturday, the other one throws. Whoever has a fresh arm throws on Sunday.

Hunter, Hjerpe and Kmatz just have to do their jobs. It is possible that you flip Kmatz and Pfennigs for the afternoon game on Saturday. I mostly just picked the order based on Pfennigs penchant to almost invariably pick black uniforms.

The years that I've paid attention to the uniforms for the day, it always seems to be that we wear three. One day is the white. One is orange. And one is black. So does the day 3 starter really have an option? Can Pfennigs opt for a second showing of the orange uniform or the white? Or perhaps a fourth option?

Ya now we are talking Uniforms. Time to break out that off white/cream option. I do believe we won a championship final game in those. My favorite for sure.
Anyone know how the laundry situation works on the road at a Tournament? If a pitcher wanted to wear a repeate could we get them cleaned in time?
I'm also wondering if Pfennings gets moved to #2 during this tournament. If we do go W/Th then Saturday might be the time to do it. I'm worried Kmatz is running into the freshman wall. It is a long season for a Freshman.
I love Tournament time... Go BEAVS!

The black uni should not be in play at all in that heat. This is what I think killed Beavs in Omaha in 2018 for that first game when it was super hot and North Carolina waxed us.

The uniform excuse is getting really old. The unis have a lot of cooling tech built into them. It is not like wearing a black cotton t-shirt. Do you think if the coaches believed that the black unis were a factor that they would continue to let them wear them? I don't think our coaches are that stupid.

I dont understand why baseball hasn’t adopted any of the long sleeved cooling tech. Skin is pretty inefficient at stay cool on its own. Probably would look weird though, like the opposite of 1970s Larry Bird.

Pac12 regular season title isn't important... D1 or other earlier praised and knowledgeable sites have suddenly screwed us. If OSU doesn't win or do well this week it'll probably be more of the same sort of stuff.... the Pac12 tourney is stupid... now that OSU doesn't need it for the postseason why play... even though the former highly esteemed HC was all in favor. Of course the converse holds... win this thing and it catapults OSU forward with great momentum... "we're Champs... inaugural Pac12 tourney Champs!" Exactly what fan boards are... Go Beavs

So does the day 3 starter really have an option? Can Pfennigs opt for a second showing of the orange uniform or the white? Or perhaps a fourth option? Oregon State also has a road grinder gray. The Beavers have worn the same jersey on consecutive days before. The most famous example that I can think of is Oregon State wearing grinder gray on both Wednesday and Thursday against Arkansas, even though the Beavers were the home team on Thursday. A fun fact is that the teams that wore gray lost two of the first three but then were a perfect 11-0 at Omaha. Only one home team won a game over the final 13 games and that was Oregon State beating Mississippi State 12-2 after the Bulldogs chose to wear dark maroon as their road uniforms. Oregon State finished 2018 in Omaha 5-0 in grinder gray, 1-0 in white and 0-2 in black. The Wednesday game against Arkansas ended at 10:15 p.m. The jerseys were ready for a 5:30 p.m. start on Thursday. The Saturday uniforms may not be ready by Sunday on a typical weekend, because the Sunday games tend to start earlier.

I posted in the post in response to irimi that Oregon State got their grinder gray uniforms cleaned after finishing up on Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. in time to wear the uniforms again on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. If Hunter and Hjerpe both post wins, I think that it will be an interesting choice between Kmatz or Pfennigs. I would wait and see about the situation before deciding which pitcher to throw on Saturday.
