So it seems likely at this point that Melton, Boyd and Turley are probably off to the big leagues. Meckler is a junior but he has graduated so not sure what his plan is, idk if sticking around helps his draft stock? For the sake of this lets say hes gone too
Current roster that leaves OF/IF guys as Fuchs (Jr), Dernedde (So),McDowell (So), Dukart (R-Fr), Reed (FR-Injured).
Incoming recruits are Turley (off to the bigs for the sake of this discussion), Canon Reeder, Easton Talt, and Aidan Dougherty
Guys can always improve but Fuchs, Dernedde, McDowell and Dukart definitely are not inspiring much confidence for replacing the plate production of Boyd, Meckler and Melton. Kasper seems like he will develop well with more AB. Reed should be great but he will be a question mark until he starts showing us what he can do at this level.
Reeder is the only incoming recruit I have a feel for and hes good but I don't think hes exactly freshman opening day starter good yet.
What do people think?

Considering Bazzana is likely a lock at 2nd and Trosky looks pretty good at SS, I wonder if we look to find a SS who can move out there at least for a while. Dallas Macias is listed as SS/OF, so maybe he can be in the mix.
You're probably right about Turley, but that would be a coup of we could keep him. If not, maybe a JUCO guy can come in for a year?

How about moving Bazzana to the outfield and Trotsky at 2b? A pro scout and I discussed it at practice last fall. I know Bazzana doesn't have a plus arm,but has very good speed. Just a thought. Many of our solid outfielders were converted infielders.

Turley is projected an mid 3rd round by mlb network. Major tools but still raw at the plate with a lot of swing and miss. Would he pull a Nick/Cayden and come here and make himself a first rounder. Let’s hope

Many of our solid outfielders were converted infielders. Just as an example, Tyler Graham was a shortstop in 2003 before being converted into an outfielder. Graham replaced Ellsbury in center and officially won the National Championship by catching the final fly ball in center in 2006. Graham then went on to play in the Majors as an outfielder. No thought, other than, yeah, Casey wasn't afraid to turn infielders into outfielders.

Ely Kennel will probably play OF. Or at least would be a good candidate to. He's probably better than Jeff Hendrix at this point.

it's hard to replace 3 guys hitting over 340 with 450+ OB % and good to great defense. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Boyd is eligible for draft by age at 21 years old. He needs to go if he has major league aspirations
