No love for KJ Harrison at 1B? Madrigal losing out to Bazzana? I love Bazzana, but that is some crazy talk right there. No love for Grenier? Barney was a great baseball player, but he did not really have the arm for shortstop. Barney won his Gold Glove at second. Grenier was phenomenal as a defensive shortstop. Beau Philip was also a very good defensive shortstop with a better arm than Barney. Trevor Larnach over Gillespie. There are a lot of good pitchers: Drew Rasmussen (when healthy), Andrew Moore and Jace Fry were the three best that I remember. Dallas Buck was a sabermetrics dream that never materialized in the Minors. Nickerson had the best rubber arm of the bunch. Gerber was a better hitter than KJ. Larnach & Gillespie are very close. Both had two very good years hitting. Larnach gets the nod for me based on his '18 post season performance.....his numbers in Omaha get overshadowed by Adley, but Larnach was damn near as good, and wins most outstanding player without Adley in front of him. Also the homerun in game two after the pop up.....that's a top 3 OSU sports moment for me.

From everything I've seen or read, I'm making a case for Chris Kunda as he was arguably the best defensive 2nd baseman Oregon State ever had. His batting paled in comparison to Madrigal so I not saying that he should replace Madrigal at 2nd, but can we at least have him on the bench on our dream team?

For SP Heimlich Boyd/Rasmussen Cjerpe
I loved Boyd’s grittiness and demeanor....I know there’s some other SP that have better stats. Problem with my list is they are all lefties so I added Drew as a backup SP

Wong for the win - just based on one play. Going horizontal in the air and making a bb throw to first to finish that double play still stands out as my play of the decade. People are going to dive or barehand and make great plays, but that is my college "Bo Jackson runs up the fence making the play" moment.

Speaking of the very best you might like watching this. Not sure if it is allowed but it is fun watching a couple of "Old Beavers". Zack Vs Adley

Here's the question I think is interesting: Is this year's outfield the best ever at OSU? I think there are only a couple years that might challenge these guys, particularly when Ellsbury and Gillespie played together briefly. But all 3 together, as a group, both offensively and defensively?
Has there ever been a better outfield at OSU than Melton, Boyd, and Meckler?

Down a run, 9th inning, 2 outs, 2 strikes, just lost the game and season on a foul ball, but no wait he gets a second chance. Talk about a short memory and clutch!!! Regroups and hits a GB through the left infield gap to tie the game up and break the razorbacks backs.

Kwan, Larnach, Anderson in '18.....Anderson is the weak link, but he was pretty damn good defensivley in left. Conforto, Hendrix, Davis in '14.....Hendrix was all Pac 12. That was a helluvan outfield. Ultimately, I think I'll take this year's OF

That was an incredible play especially since it was in the CWS. I remember being wowed by it. The relay play to the plate to nail a Tar Heel was stone cold, too.

Yea I hear ya, but that HR was just so sweeeet I agree 100000% and wasn't meaning to diminish the HR in any way. My point was, I haven't seen Greniers' name on anyone's list and yet he delivered one of the biggest hits in the biggest moments in OSU baseball history. We're simply spoiled as fans. Edit: Correction, I see now Wilky did mention Grenier a page back.

My point was, I haven't seen Greniers' name on anyone's list and yet he delivered one of the biggest hits in the biggest moments in OSU baseball history. We're simply spoiled as fans. Edit: Correction, I see now Wilky did mention Grenier a page back. I put Grenier up there, because I do not remember a better defensive shortstop. Plus Grenier was clutch. He scored the first on a home run and third runs (from first on a double by Larnach) against North Carolina in game two. The reason that it was 6-3 in the eighth rather than 6-1 was 100% Grenier. In the eighth, he worked that 11-pitch walk with the umpire with the wonky zone to load the bases to set up Rutschman's three-run double to tie the game. Grenier scored run number six on a great slide to just beat the throw. Grenier then bunted Madrigal over to set up Larnach's base hit to put Oregon State up 8-6. Malone made it 10-6 two hitters later and Anderson tacked on a single three hitters later to make the final 11-6. Grenier also scored run number six against Mississippi State in game one on another Rutschman hit to put Oregon State up 6-1. In game two against Mississippi State, Grenier hit a two-out double and scored on a Rutschman base hit to put Oregon State up 1-0. Gretler drove in Larnach and then Malone drove in Rutschman and Gretler on a three-run shot to put Oregon State up 5-0. The Beavers did not score any more runs, but no runs would have been scored at all had Grenier not hit the two-out double, the first of five consecutive hits. Oregon State only had three other hits in the game: two before Grenier started things off and only a single by Madrigal after that. In the fifth, Grenier stopped what would have been two runners in scoring position by throwing out Jake Mangum at second, Nobach-to-Grenier-to-Madrigal to end the fifth. Grenier then ended the game by fielding and throwing Tanner Poole out at second. In perhaps Grenier's best game of the Tournament, Grenier hit the big RBI bunt base hit to put Oregon State up 2-1 in game two against Arkansas in the fifth. Grenier singled again in the seventh, but Larnach ground out. And then Grenier drove in the game-tying run and scored what would be the game-winning run in the ninth. In game three against Arkansas, Grenier scored the first run, drove in by Rutschman again. Grenier stole second in the third, and Rutschman drove in Grenier one last time to put Oregon State up 3-0. From there, Gretler drove in Rutschman in the fifth, and Taylor drove in Gretler in the eighth for a 5-0 Oregon State win. Rutschman drove in 13 runs in the College World Series, 11 in the six wins, 10 in the final five wins. If you exclude the two solo shots (North Carolina 2 and Arkansas 2), Rutschman drove in eight runs. All eight non-home run Rutschman RBIs in the last five wins are accounted for above. Grenier scored five of Rutschman's RBIs, Madrigal scored two and Armstrong scored one. Grenier was on base for each of them.

Gillespie was more of a hitter than a fielder, though. If not, then probably Pietsch, Mathews and Ellsbury in '03. Or Graham, Ellsbury and Mathews in '04. If we are talking about the best outfield without Ellsbury, then I think that we start to have a real conversation.
