Mrs. Lucas mentions HC but not the assistants. Sounds to me the wrong guys were canned. From the folks that work at Gill the assistants were often trying to be the go betweens with absolutely no success. When I brought up some sideline confrontations, two being between Lucas and Rupp, I was told it was frustration that nothing was being done. It was not directed at Rupp himself or his actions. I wonder if the new staff was sold to recruits as the "solution" to internal issues even though they were not the cause?? I hope none of the current signees are hearing this crap. It could taint the waters before they even arrive on campus. Luckily the May 1st portal deadline passed as they now can't enter it as signed players. You can bet that everyone around Beaver basketball is hearing this. |

He allowed the new transfers to: not go to conditioning; fights broke out; transfers wouldn’t go to the locker room after games; transfers wouldn’t run the plays; transfers were cussing out coaches. This is why my son went into the portal. If it weren’t for all of that and the lack of accountability, he would still be there as well as others.” That’s some pretty rough insights that can actually explain the collapse. It makes me wonder if last years’s coaches were Reichle and Ethan. Nice that David has his momma to fight his battles for him. I don't think David Lucas' mom has anything to do with this. |

It sure wouldn't be hard for Barnes to figure out what the truth is assuming Rupp and Thompson were willing to talk. That's also assuming Barnes wants to know what the hell happened.

I am inclined to believe Mrs. Lucas post, even if it may be closer in spirit than fact. One of my emotional biases is that I tend to be skeptical of what parents say, because they often overreact when their kids are involved.
That overly long caveat aside, what has driven me nuts during Tinkle's tenure is the lack of a coherent offense. At best it has been inconsistent, at worst it has been "Wtf was that?!" My opinion, the root cause is a lack of discipline. Discipline comes from the head coach, it starts outside the program, runs through every team activity and practice, and then shows up in the game. Everything Mrs. Lucas describes stem from a lack of discipline and leadership from the top. It was painfully obvious last year, but it has always been there.
When Tinkle has good players who buy in, he has success. When he has players who don't buy in, it looks like (in games) the inmates are running the asylum. My opinion, transfer players are more likely to need that accountability and order, because they may be transferring for that very reason. Given the state of affairs in NCAA sports, I don't believe we will ever see a consistent, steady program under Tinkle.

Nice that David has his momma to fight his battles for him. I don't think David Lucas' mom has anything to do with this. David Lucas' mom went to Myspace to say he should be added to the CBI banner. Keep up my man. |

I don’t know what happened or didn’t happen, but this is part of the reason I’m skeptical of her comments being 100% accurate. Wouldn’t news of things like this funnel back to Barnes, and if so wouldn’t he investigate and do something about it — as others have pointed out seems like he could have fired WT with cause if all these things happened? But then again, these days it seems like almost an everyday occurrence when we hear/read about things that make you shake your head and ask how something like that could happen. Where there is smoke, there is often at least some fire. I don’t doubt some things happened. What percentage of these rumors actually happened — and to what degree — we’ll probably never know. Unfortunately, you know this stuff will be used on the recruiting trail. |

I do laugh when everything she said is believed on this board, but the various parents' comments about Rueck on the women's board are from "crazy parents" |

He has a lot worse transgressions than WT and he still has a job. Does he have dirt on Barnes? I'm sure her comments aren't 100% accurate, but I'm also sure there's a decent amount of truth to them. |
