If osu MBB is much more competitive next year and wins 12 + games,Wayne survives past 22/23. JMO. Washington had 5 wins in 20/21 and 15 this year...Iowa st. won 4 games in 20/21 and made the sweet 16 this year. A turn around is possible anywhere.

Iowa st. won 4 games in 20/21 and made the sweet 16 this year. A turn around is possible anywhere. Here's a couple of points to consider with regard to the Iowa State turnaround:
Steve Prohm - Head Coach, 20-21 season; 2-21 record T. J. Otzelberger - Head Coach, 21-22 season; 22-12 record
The Iowa State record in 20-21 was actually worse than stated having won 2, not 4 games. And the turnaround was fueled by firing the coach responsible for the bad record and hiring another coach.

Yeah, but they knew they could never land an assistant like Reveno…

I know your connected so I always respect your opinion. I'm not expecting a similar turn around. I just want a cohesive team who is on the same page and plays together. Unlike any time in history, with the portal being prominent,a school can turn their fortunes around quickly with the right additions or destroy success with the wrong additions. I just want a team that is not disfunctional and can be headed the right direction.

Reveno is a fantastic hire for OSU. Excellent player at Stanford, excellent coach on Monty's staff for years, did a good job at UP with no money, no cred and little alum support.
Pete Newell called him one of the best big man coaches in the game.
Strong character, high BB IQ, dedicated to the task.
Most importantly, he won't tolerate the sh*t that has gone on here recently.

Chinmusic,
I am sure you are correct in your observation about Coach Reveno. Unfortunately Coach has often "tolerated the sh*t that has gone on here" in the past and will probably continue to do so in the future since he is the guy "steering the boat".

That basically happened 1 year, last year. Is that how you define "often"

He isn't in charge. He'll tolerate exactly what WT allows. Otherwise you then have a split in the coaching staff players will notice and take advantage of immediately. Like it or not he'll have to buy in to whatever WT is selling. Unless, he's on board with ulterior motives... his or AD's?! HC with experience waiting in the wings in case the wheels fall off early?? There hasn't been a good conspiracy theory on the board for a while, so???

Sorry there has been discord on WT's team off and on throughout his tenure. A (3) win season just magnified it and forced staff changes. It's nothing new in some form or another. There's discord off and on with every team. The only s%#t storm was last year. Wrong... there was a "storm" when several players left unexpectedly early in his tenure. There was often rumors of locker room favoritism, uneven discipline, etc. This board and his tenure has been full of this stuff to some degree for most of the past (7) seasons. When the losing streak(s) mounted speculations about discord and issues were mentioned, just like other seasons. In fact the supposed "sh%t storm" was denied by many here when mentioned by posters with some "inside info". As always with teflon Tinkle there is always some lame arse excuse for failures. As with this season, it was the terrible, selfish players. It was Covid that didn't allow for in depth research of recruits. Or... it isn;t all on the players?! Some here just claim transfers were just the norm, even before the portal/transfer changes. However, what is not normal is that so many transfer out rarely any HS kids stay for their 4/5 years. Other than the sons... almost none under WT. That is not normal. Of course other coaches typically have more quantity and quality in their HS recruits. Take away the elite schools that have a lot of one and dones, WT has failed at recruiting, but more importantly failed at keeping his HS recruits. And, toss out the sons, and a very rare leave for the NBA, it's pretty bad. Someone will check this quick overview I'm sure. And, even give a plethora of excuses maybe?? From OSU site... scholly or walk ons: '14-15... (3) true Fr... (0) finished at OSU for whatever reasons... WT's 1st season really no real time to recruit '15-16... (6) true Fr... (3) " " (Steven, Tres, Big G) '16-17... (3) " " ... (0) " " '17-18... (5) " " ... (2) " " (Ethan, Zach) '18-19... (3) " " ... (0) " " '19-20... (4) " " ... (0) " " (assumes Lucas & Hunt don't come back to OSU) '20-21... (1) " " ... so far so good! 21'-22... (1) " " ... so far so good! Not including the too early to tell '20 and '21 classes, WT has signed (or walk on) 24 true frosh, 5 have completed their stays. Take away the sons, 2 of 21 (Big G and Zach). That's 10% of his high school true frosh. I'm pretty sure that is NOT the norm. Kids transfer, but most teams (especially teams of OSU's overall record over his tenure) don't have the issues WT has had. So he must just run a terrific program and his recruiting is so terrible he can't "read"/research players properly?

On the "favoritism " thing - Seriously, name any other team in D-1 ball that had 2-3 coaches' sons at the same time for 4 years straight and coaches' sons for 5 years straight, and explain how there weren't some other players arguing favoritism.
It's no surprise some recruits were crying favoritism, even though those 3 kids were obviously among our best players during that time.
OSU had a unique situation. Despite this, probably every team has players that think they're getting screwed for playing time... elsewise the transfer portal would not be so crowded.
Some people act like most other teams are sitting around the campfire holding hands and singing Kumbaya all year long.

The statement that this past season was the ONLY one that had issues, was a sh%t show, was false. If having sons, cries of favoritism, were the only issues OSu hoops would not be where it is today. Is that now (6) in the portal? Hunt (?), Lucas, Calloo, Davis all probable starters...
