I wonder if they have staff in the AD help write these things up for players. Seems like it. They’re all cookie cutter versions of the same statement.

F__k the portal. I won’t be investing anymore money, time, and certainly not emotion on a team and it’s players of NO RELATION to me when it means this little to them. FUBAR. Oregon State and Corvallis seem to have an “non-endearing” quality about them. Too, too easy to say adios to. I’ve prayed about it, and my mental and physical (?) health depend on me making the decision to divorce myself from supporting AND rooting for intercollegiate athletics. Beaver fan since 1970. Sports fan most all of my 64 years on this earth. Sad f%#*ing day for me. Goodbye.

After AD Barnes gave SR contract extension for 10 years, WBB went down in the 2nd half of season and now 3 on transfer portal so far.
Just like MBB after contract extension.

Not sure there is any point in referring to players by their first name anymore, as many of them are not around long enough to be on a first name basis with.

Surprising, and not a surprise really. She was said to be thinking about it during the DS "issue"/ transfer. Supposedly be parents were quite concerned and met with SR more than once. AG helped with her staying. DS Issue? Did I miss that? What happened? There was a big "supposed" issue with SR and DS. On this board it turned into DS vs SR, and she was the villain and SR was the "saint" that could do no wrong. A former poster here was very good friends with a player/parents and his posts and anyone who agreed were vilified. Long story short SR was in the wrong, had to make apologies and make some parents "believers" again. DS transferred out and several other players were also considering it. Whatever was/will be said, crap went down and now two of the players considering a move now have. Coincidence? Really don't care as they are most likely gone and their reasons are none of my biz, nor will we ever know all the factors for sure. Goodbye statements from players are typically glowing and positive. I've only seen a couple that actually seem to indicate ill will. The "mental health" thing is used a lot these days and can mean whatever one wants to read into it. However, in response to another post I believe once portal permission is given and the portal paperwork filed the scholly is gone. I assume that means for the next academic year, not immediately. Players can choose to return, but schools do not have to accept them back, or if they do not on the same terms (scholarship). It's been a while since I've read up on it so that could be incorrect?! But, other than a quick overview I've never really worried about it. If a player doesn't want to be a Beaver, good luck and goodbye. It hurts team, but it's the coach/staff's job to sign, develop, and find players that fit their system. Tougher job these days, but why complain when it is the same playing field for everyone.

Unfortunately, this is going to negatively impact season ticket holder renewals. I may be one of the causalties if we cannot find able replacements in the portal. I will wait to see where how the "ins/outs" flush out through summer. As was pointed out before, there are some high quality players in the portal, in Daniels, Jenkins, and multiple perimeter players. Jelena better get in top notch condition, cause she is going to play a lot more minutes. Has anyone heard definitively about Taya?

I wonder if they have staff in the AD help write these things up for players. Seems like it. They’re all cookie cutter versions of the same statement. Well, obviously the experience didn't really mean much to her at all. Basically said, "see ya suckers"! I'm more than the team so I'm going somewhere that I can be numero uno.. Is SR the issue? Maybe because they're leaving the titanic like rats. I foresee another MBB like season next year, maybe collectively they will be 52 - 6. All joking aside, we will be in the basement or close to it of the PAC12!! What the hell ever happened to let's get better, try harder, work harder? We're getting a bunch of young prima donnas that only see how they can promote themselves, sad day all around. I'm betting there will be more leaving, and at least one decommit, who will want to join this sinking ship right now, it's going to look like a JV team. Maybe we go back to recruiting 2 and 3 star kids, who actually will work hard and never give up?? Yes, some will say, you're just being negative, well, that's right because this is becoming a stinking mess and I refuse to sugar coat it. You may disagree.....sad, sad day for not only OSU sports, but sports in general is sinking rapidly, again, your mileage may vary...RANT OVER .. :-)

Well, the issue with buying season tix and retaining those people is that...on the positive side: - they are very cheap even if you can't make all the games; - you get the same seats and sit around folks you become familiar with (has been a negative for me in the past!); The negative: - you do not need to layout for season tix to get good seats. Although people see it as well attended, most games have a plethora of great tix available till tip off; - big game tix can be purchased well ahead of time and still get good seats; Either way you are supporting the program. And, you can always donate to the program separately from the individual game tix you buy. For me it just made sense to drop the season tix even though I attend most every game. About half the games I've attended the last 3 seasons I've had someone offer me free tix in front of Gill, or had friends with extras/not using theirs. Either way I can go sit where I want 90% of the time.

You may disagree.....sad, sad day for not only OSU sports, but sports in general is sinking rapidly, again, your mileage may vary...RANT OVER .. :-) Relax. There are an average of 3 portal entries per D1 team right now. It's the new normal. They're leaving every program in every conference in every state. Men's or Women's sports, it doesn't matter, every fan base thinks there is something wrong with their coach right now because kids are in the portal. There are over 800 players in the portal, last season about 250 of them didn't find a home. Going back to recruiting local kids that don't transfer but are borderline D1 players is not the answer. Teams need to re-recruit and re-load every season. Altman at uo figured this out a couple years ago. A lot of kids want a change of scenery after 2-3 years. I hate it, but college sports is no longer an amateur endeavor.

We need to get back to recruiting players like Seigner, McWilliams, Hanson, Weisner, Gulich, Wiese, Pivec, Hamblin, Hunter, Goodman, Washington, Tudor, etc. Enough with these "elite" recruits. So often, little return for a whole lotta hype. The “we’re a national program and can recruit nationally” has not worked. Maybe time to go back to the PNW and west coast roots. The make up of the home states, province, or country of the 2016 final four team members:
Oregon: 4 California: 2 Arizona: 2 BC: 2
Washington: 1 Minnesota: 1 Germany: 1

Lots of good comments. A shocker to Me. Couple things. 1 The portal changes the game. It May change How we recruit. 2 Reasons: emotional well being is not good for us. 2/3 of coaching staff different. 3. Will Scott adjust?

This one is really upsetting to me. Why……because she was one of my favorites and I think she will be a great get for some team. Just one of those players you want the best for. Boy, that sure puts things in a tough situation now. And I thought other p-12 schools were taking a hit, we are right up there. Shaky on TVO now. When does this portal period end? Anyone
