Maybe he just resents the fact that grown men are absolutely trashing the kid on here.....a kid who has been a Beaver for six years. It's honestly kind of heartbreaking that a kid who has been so good for really his entire career, returned from surgery.....and for whatever reason just doesn't have it right now. You can see the staff trying to find ways to get him back on track. They moved him from the end of game situations and called for him in the fifth inning with a two run lead, and he gets a 123 inning, only to run him back out there and have him go 2B, 2B, BB and they got him out ASAP. In an era when student athletes transfer for even the smallest of reasons, this is a dude that has been a Beaver for SIX years. But because he has lost a few games, we're going to trash him? Part of what I love (or used to love) about college sports is that it didn't feel like it was JUST about wins and losses. I don't like the trashing of coaches who don't win, but I get it. They're at least paid well to endure people calling them stupid or terrible. But the players CHOSE OSU. Especially the baseball players right now. If they're good enough to play here, they're good enough to play damn near anywhere in the country. And we're going to talk about them like they're just some rando off the street? I get the frustration. Verburg hasn't pitched well this year. I'm not saying we can't be critical of performances, but when it gets downright mean or personal, it honestly makes me embarrassed to be a fan. Everyone going in on him, or saying that anyone that is rooting for the guy or trying to find positives in his performance "must be related" to him? C'mon. We should be better than that. This happens in all sports. Victor Bolden was a common punching bag on the football message boards for years. And it sucks. Also, we're 3rd in the conference and in no danger of not playing in the tournament. We're still a very strong candidate to host a regional. I mean, we're talking right now about how we "might have trouble in a Super Regional" as if it's a bad thing. Imagine that....having it be a toss-up if you can get by one of the final 16 teams standing in the country. We should be so lucky.

Maybe you should just stop at your use of "big" words/Thesaurus (maybe look up "hyperbole" while you're at it?!) and not call out folks on word usage and spelling?? Wait really? You of all people saying this? Must’ve been four or five posts of yours with spelling or grammar issues. One of these days, you may actually learn the difference between who’s and whose. But not today. We all make mistakes from time to time. Big deal. Most people let it slide. LOL... you really are clueless at times... you respond to ideas that are never stated. Make up the emotions of other posters and now can't figure out being called out for spelling because YOU called someone else out for it! See you called out a poster during you latest diatribe. Hence, the irony of you "not letting it slide" then making a pedestrian mistake. Pretty funny.

Maybe said poster then should make the same points to EVERY poster who made a negative comment about ANY pitcher this season. Plus, it is a message board, typically not for those that don't understand they are inhabited by all types. Just as the stands of any sporting event down to pee wee soccer these days. To me the Verburg issue shouldn't be with him at all. But the staff decision of when and how to use him until he regains form. But, like disparaging a player, saying anything negative about the baseball staff is almost sacrosanct. The recent usage of Verburg in his current state shows a lack of confidence in some other dudes in the pen. It also puts an obviously struggling pitcher in a very difficult situation, almost putting him in a situation to fail. I was surprised, relieved, and happy that he had that initial positive inning. But, he was not overpowering, or hitting spots. The ball was put in play and solidly. That should have been it. Let him build on that positive and move on to the next arm we're trying to develop. It's a message board. Posters say stupid things. Posters feel the need to call out other posters. Sometimes more stupid crap follows. But, it's what happens here and other boards. In the stands it can be very hard to hold your tongue to some of the ignorant crap you hear. But, here, anonymously, folks pop off anytime they want!

Oh shut up man! You have to contradict everything! It's annoying.....like a furd fan at Goss! My "silly" ass saw our pen, mainly Verburg lose a lead by giving up two doubles in a row and then loadin up for Carpenter.....ball game! We all saw Friday of course Hjerpes gem was wasted by us not hitting....hats off to the Furd staff. We had a chance to take the series with a lead that was given up.....and yea we didn't get timely hits ....I'm not gonna split hairs with you. You seem to have a soft spot for Verburg or something.....are you his uncle? Your drivel is always the same. I decided to call you out on it because you are always at the extreme in you accusations. Are you 13? Are pitchers deserve better than your unfounded vitriol. You are myopic in your criticisms and hyperbolic in your pronouncements. Maybe when you grow up and learn to spell words like “probably” and “you”, you will leave behind this teenage angst you feel. Yea, well ur mother was a hamster, and ur father smells of elderberries! "Unfounded vitriol".....dude ur smokin crack. All I did was point out the obvious. He hasn't pitched well. It's not debatable. I didnt attack his character. You are a drama queen. I've had you on block for some time, but we seem to cross paths still. Mainly cuz you seem to like to follow me around and contradict my posts......you really come across as an arrogant know,-it-all in here....maybe it's just the format.....nah, ur a tool. I'll just go back to completely ignoring you.

Well this banter is getting a bit much on this topic. I would wager if we had won the series with Stanford that none of this would be going on.....but that didn’t happen and people are getting their Monday morning grumpiness out of the way.....so now we can all get back to our good side and look forward to this coming weeks games .....right guys!!!!

Yep keep moving forward for sure. Portland game is gonna be tougher than usual I think. They will be extra motivated, and they are a pretty solid squad this season.....and we all know what an adventure the midweek games can be....wait, is that too much criticism?

Beavs have a nice little stretch to get guys going. I'm not overlooking SC, but this stretch provides one Pac12 road test with (6) NC games/(5) at home before the grind to the Pac12 tourney. If anything needs "fixed/settled" it best happen between tomorrow and the UW series.

"It's a message board" should not be an excuse to be an asshole. There's a difference between saying "Verburg is struggling, I don't know why they keep putting him out there in close games" and "Verburg is DONE, I hope we don't ever see him again." There's a difference between saying "I wouldn't have sent the runner there" and "The coaching staff just showed how over its head they are by trying to score there. These guys are terrible."
It just gets old, seeing people go in on the guys we are allegedly the biggest fans of.

Show me another team anywhere that could lose 2 or 3 (if you count Mundt) starting pitchers and still win the way the Beavs have. I'll wait.
