Hey, I actually agree with you! The bats did little. As far as the "gift" runs go, when someone can't throw a strike, don't swing, so no problem at all with the bases-loaded walks. That's actually a testament to our plate discipline and in a sense we earned those runs. But then we didn't add on when he did find the strike zone, despite many opportunities, and that was the difference. It sure would be nice to have Wheeler's bat back in the lineup.

D-1 Baseball TOP 25 Teams went 23-18 this weekend. Everyone sucks !!
Calm down - Beavs wennt 3-2 this week and have a few things to figure out.
If / when Pfennings returns - and the bullpen is 'set' (with Sebby, Brown, Ferrer, and Carpenter - probably / ...and Lattery for mid innings?....and maybe one more arm) and the DH / Catching position settles on Gavin Logan / Smith (assuming Weber is available as a backup), The Beavs will be an Omaha-level squad.
No more freshmen at DH (except Smith)....that experiment has 'flown'.

Great series. Not so great outcome, naturally, but a great series between two very good teams.
I wonder if the players are whining about the loss and thinking their season is gonna end in a super regional.

Some posters here think the team has no future. So I guess it depends on your perspective.

Mitch and Dorman have their work cut out for them. Forget about how tough Omaha is without deep pitching, a Super Regional would take this staff down. Sorry. Isn't this the team a number of posters thought would go undefeated, hitting a thousand homers, and pitching sixty shutouts? Boys, this happens every year for every sport: the teams look good on paper and y'all expect national championships. Then, when they don't meet your expectations, y'all run for the hills screaming "The sky is falling! They're all a bunch of bums! Fire somebody!" I vote for firing a few fans. I know you responded to my post, but is this a response to my post? I never posted that this team was the greatest thing since sliced bread, nor did I post that the sky is falling. I think I made a pretty level headed observation regarding the team’s weakness and expressed my confidence in the coaches to fix it. This team could be very, very good in my opinion. Just need some work and some good old fashioned luck.

But Rafer thinks this team won’t even make a regional. Might as well forfeit the season.

Uh, this was a test for any hope of being an Omaha participate, even a regional.
The 2018 NCAA champions lost a series at Utah, the last-place team in the Pac-12. I don't think anyone is giving up on them
Sounds like the guy calling them a jc team on Sundays is. I was at that series, sat right behind Beavs dugout. That Utah team was not a shadow of the Stanford team we saw this weekend. We went on to lose the series the following weekend in AZ. The development of a solid third starter in May, a kid named Abel, transformed our season. Here's to hoping the same happens this year. For everyone complaining, go back and look at the depth of those pitching staffs in 17 and 18. They went seven or eight deep. Not far from where we are right now.

They lost the first game, but not the third. And Lattery did pretty good.....as soon as Verburg came in the wheels fell off. I'm a believer of the team concept. Both losses were based on missed opportunities on both sides. However, the bats today actually did very little. They had the chance to blow this open. But, without looking, I think 4 of the 5 runs were "gifts" from Furd, bases loaded walks and WP. And end with a bunch of empty innings and 14 Ks and only 6 hits. I think Furd has a more experienced team and it eventually showed. Especially on the mound. Having a Pac12 pitcher of the week close Friday and ready for 7 innings today was a great move. And, Matthew's maturity showed coming off that miserable inning and finishing. Work to do. But, it's Pac12 baseball. There was going to be no matter. Just as folks went over the top early on with very little to go on. Some now are going the opposite way. being too negative, overboard about the post season. This is a top 15 "ish" team. The strength of the Pac12 and a top 4 finish will get a regional at Goss. Lots to look forward too. OSU has played 2 of the current bottom 3, and only 1 series versus the other top 4. Chances to make inroads even though a 5-0 lead and home series loss hurts. I hear all that, but we had 5-0 lead and blew it.....that should be enough, if ur pitching is good.....today, it was not. And I go back to the Verburg factor. How is he still coming in in important situations? Dude gets smoked every time!

We’re only half way through the season. Not necessarily indicative of the the team they will be going into the postseason.

If we get a winning season in any of our sports I’m pleased. Expectations of 2nd hand glory is a quick way to be as depressed as Mike Parker.

Not sure anyone expressed those outrageous claims about the team. I know I was (and am) convinced that the team had made lots of progress over last year's team. I also said to get your tickets for Omaha. Somebody has to balance all the negative Nellies on the board. I have enjoyed every moment of this season, even the losses. The team is still growing, as it should be, and the growth is really exciting. Those who disparage our pitching staff fail to notice the great strides our pitchers have taken. Watching Kmatz and Ferrer step up to answer the call has been exciting. Think about where we were last year, with bad losses to Oregon and with a lot of uncertainty in the lineup. Our record (20-7) is pretty much the same as last year's (20-6), and we still have 27 games left to play. I have faith that the team will continue to improve and make a strong run at the end.

I don’t think singling out pitchers is the problem.

I think it takes a lot more than that to be as depressed as Parker sounds when things turn south for the Beavs. LOL I'm negative in many things in life...ask my wife. But when it comes to sports, not at all. What's the point? I'd rather be optimistic and write off the loss as a learning experience for the team than to try to see deeper and darker things beyond the loss.
