have some kryptonite going against our hitters.
We've been shutout in 3 of our last four against these guys.
1-0 loss in game one last year 5-0 loss in game two last year 9-1 win in game three last year 1-0 loss in game one this year
We need to get our bats going today. Go Beavs.

Nothing like a solid pac 12 staff to cool off ur bats. Furd is legit, and could be scary if they get their offense going.

Legit? If Alex “let me wander around here for 20 seconds before I set up to pitch” Williams was legit, then how do you define Hjerpe’s performance.
Our hitting was off. I don’t think Stanford’s pitching was all that special…except their closer. He shut the door quickly against quality batters. I hope we don’t need to see him again.

He threw hard last night and seemed to overwhelm the batters seeing him for the first time.

I don’t like the pitch clock, but the ump was allowing the pitcher to go 25-30 seconds, but ordering the hitter into the box immediately.

Stanford's closer in game one is the Cardinal's usual Saturday starter: Quinn Mathews Stanford Low-90s fastball with a good changeup and a slider. Blanked Arkansas, Northridge and Wazzu. Good outing against Zona. Got shelled by Oregon. Mathews is probably the third-best pitcher that Oregon State will face in Pac-12 play. Let's hope that we can do what Oregon did to him.

Delays by the batter or the pitcher returning from fielding or backing up delays the start, etc. But, most importantly it's only used when the bases are unoccupied. And, some umpires "hurry" batters into position as the pitch clock begins when the pitcher has the ball on the mound. And batters aren't to delay the start of the pitching motion. There is lots involved. Too much IMHO... here is a basic summary: baseballrulesacademy.com/official-rule/ncaa/ncaa-appendix-f-pitch-between-innings-clock-protocol/

It was, but runners have to be returned to base after leads, foul balls, etc. The HP ump has the discretion on when he starts or pauses the on field clock. The only reason there is a clock is that umpires were inconsistent in their enforcement. The visual clock makes it more "public", in view. Byr, still the ump in charge of the clock (bases if no visual field clock) has a lot of discretion. The system is just too convoluted and the visual clock leads to the stupid fan count downs. IMHO that's just not part of this game.

Also, you quoted the old rule specifically in your initial post citing the runner on base situation. You did not know the rule change. Period. I call bull again.

Finally, rgeorge, is Hjerpe at last a quality Pac12 starter in your eyes yet? You stated in earlier posts that he wasn’t.
