Nice detective work! I'm now going with the Honorable Judge being correct here. Well now we know. Thank god. Because someone in media/entertainment changing their name is so exceptional and consequential, right? I just brought it up as an interesting thing. Didn't think it turn into such a big deal.

blueheron Judge Smails Certainly not hard proof, but a couple of google search brings up this article: www.oregonlive.com/sports/2014/12/before_jerry_allen_makes_the_c.htmlWhich according to that Jerry's dad's name is "Dannie" and still lives in Grants Pass: Now, a quick google search show a 69 year old "Danny" Allen living in Grants Pass. However, it also shows a "Dannie Smith"... 95 years old, liviing in Grants Pass. This leads to a connection to a Mary Smith, which finally leads to this Obiturary: www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/grants-pass-or/mary-smith-8267164And this line: Jerold... Jerry.... Maybe , guess we will never know Edit: Just reread above, and see that Judge Smails calls out the brother as "Ron". I am sure there are plenty of Borthers named Jerry and Ron though, so still not conclusive. Much easier, probably is to just do some back of the napkin math Jerry is 74, which puts him graduating in 1966 from high school. This alumni list from Grants Pass High school: grantspasshighschool.org/class-of-1966.htmlConspicuously LACKS a Jerry Allen, but DOES have a Jerry Smith... Could just be a coincidence I suppose. Maybe Jerry was home schooled. (No Jerry Allen in the '65-'70 classes either) I think I owe you a beer. I wasn't going to spend the time to look at that up when I knew it was the case. And yes, I guess I should have said Jerold Smith, but he always went by Jerry.
