Putin should just publicly announce that his forces have successfully de-Nazified Ukraine - ahead of schedule even, declare victory and go back home.

As an aside with the ongoing conflict going on there in mind I decided to purchase a bottle of Polish-made vodka Sobieski in my weekly Friday afternoon after work trip to the liquor store and supporting the Polish opening their doors to all the Ukranian refugees ... dang this vodka is pretty smooth and like the same price as HRD. Found my new go-to vodka I think

I think I heard this from Fareed Zakaria. My first thourghts are that it is a good idea. Reduce sanctions on Venezuela and Iran, start buying their oil, and don't touch any more Russian oil.

Or, an even crazier idea, go back to allowing the same production levels we had domestically before 2021 and don’t buy any oil from any tyrannical governments that hate the US.

We've cut production levels in the last 12 months?

We've cut production levels in the last 12 months? I heard an interview on CNBC a couple days ago saying not only is production down for the usual pandemic reasons (people, equipment, material) the pipelines in the us had their flow capacity reduced by one of the many executive orders affecting the industry. There’s also pressure on the oil companies to pay more dividends and that has cut into their exploration budget as well. www.macrotrends.net/2562/us-crude-oil-production-historical-chart

Bias? I have no idea who Americans for Prosperity" is, but this summary basically mimics many other articles but in summary fashion with short descriptions. americansforprosperity.org/biden-policies-raising-gas-prices/The easiest way for me to think about it is where else would I rather oil and gas exploration and production take place? The need for petroleum products is not going away in the next 50+ years. No matter how idealistic a person is, the need will be there and the US is by far the safest, cleanest, most regulated place in the world for such production to take place. At the end of 2020 the US was energy self sufficient, net exporters of NG and oil products (by whatever standards those who claim that). I think I saw that oil production increased 50%, 12 mil barrels/day from 8 million, from 2015 "ish" to the start of 2021. Increased energy costs drive the prices of everything else and it makes zero sense to give up your economy's partial self sufficiency by dropping oil production. Multitudes of environmental improvements have been made and would continue to be made as we find a way to become less dependent to fossil fuels. But, instead we are no less dependent, have no controls on how it is taken or produced, and now having to import massive amounts of of that oil. Top that off with "sanctioning" while continuing to BUY 600k barrels/day of Russian oil.

"Americans for Prosperity" is a conservative/libertarian super PAC heavily financed by Charles Koch.

Thanks. I’m good. The eia data I looked at was the same, the last thing was the chart so I posted that as it’s quick and clear. Plenty of info out there. Why did you ask the question if you felt like you had all the answers? Macrotrends is a “political operation?” Huh

I didn't have the answers. The politcal operation was Americans for Prosperity. Sorry for the confusion. The only executive order I'm aware of without jumping into the rabbit hole is the stopping of construction of the one pipeline. Demand dropped off a cliff in Spring 2020 (pandemic) and a lot of drillers went bust. I don't know anything about corporations feeling pressure to increase stock dividends.

So far everyone is doing a good job being apolitical in this thread.
Maybe we could bring the thread back around to the actual war and supporting Ukraine?
