Cal had swept their tournament this weekend, so a nice win for the Zags.

They are a good team.
Against elite teams, they may get spanked, but with their pitching, they are good.

They are a good team. Against elite teams, they may get spanked, but with their pitching, they are good. Wait... their ERA is currently over 6 and only because they played NM twice. It's over 10 vs OSU and Cal... neither I would say is "elite" at this stage. Hence, Zags aren't anywhere near "good" at this point, not even their pitching since it is about a staff, not a couple studs that throw hard.

Cal swept through the MLB4 Tournament this weekend in Scottsdale with wins over Houston, #17 TCU and San Diego State. Sure. Gonzaga gave up one more run than #17 TCU did against Cal, but they also scored three more runs than TCU. I agree that there is not a ton to go on. But so far: Oregon State > Gonzaga Gonzaga > California > TCU > San Diego State > Houston Gonzaga > New Mexico

Zags have some hitters too. That Kramer kid comes to mind. I don't think we should downplay how well we pitched, especially getting out of trouble.

Gonzaga is solid. They beat NewNexico twice. We were hot. Except for the 9 th inning in a 13-5 win. I like our hitting throughout line up. Too bad I will miss Xavier. They lost or were swept by Alabama. Hope we keep hitting. Kudos to Gonzaga for beating Cal. A 5 th game hard to get pitching organized for that.

Bama swept Xavier. Zags are a good club. They will win a lot of games. Their starting staff is good. Or better than good. Bullpen overall might be question. They generally had traffic on bases against us. To our staffs credit we generally got out of it.. and we plated enough runs to make it not matter.
It’s early. Too early to really get any real bead on teams. Including Beavs.

Xavier got swept by Alabama and just lost to Louisville on their way back to Cincinnati. Louisville finished last at the South Florida Tournament this past weekend in a Tournament that included Charlotte, Connecticut and South Florida. Xavier led in three of the games. The Musketeers blew a three-run ninth inning lead against Alabama, a three-run seventh inning lead against Louisville and a one-run second inning lead against Alabama.

And remember that Gonzaga did this on day 4, having gone through their typical rotation. I wonder how the Beavs would have fared if their fourth game had been against stronger competition…..

Time will tell if there are pitchers we will face who can hold our lineup down.....it's usually a sidearm, junk throwing, guy from Portland or similar. Thing is, top to bottom, this lineup may have the most potential pop in it we've ever had. I think guys like Meckler, and Bazzana set a bar for competitive AB's and it elevates everyone. We have plenty of questions about our pitching, as we all are aware of. Starting with Frisch's availability moving forward. Lots of tall, young dudes.....it's gonna be interesting.

They soon forget... It would have to be pretty steady and incredible to just match the 2018 team's offensive production: *OSU historical stats do not match 2018 stat page in some areas Team BA (.321) OSU record is .327 AB (2345) record Runs (518) record (although individual season lists 512?) Hits (753) record ( " " " " 740?) 2B (151) record ( " " " " 150?) HR (67) record RBI (480) record ( " " " " 474?) TB (1195) record ( " " " " 1131) But, let's see!! Hopefully even a close 2nd can lead to the same results if the pitching can be as good.

I'm not sure we match the power numbers this season, but I do think top, to bottom, this has the POTENTIAL to be a better lineup. The runs and BA records could be in jeopardy

Wow, so who are the 5 position players that will be drafted in the first 10 rounds of the draft like from the 2018 team?
They look good so far, but not at that level.
