My mom swore she met him over in Newport on year. I didn’t believe her, but who knows. Said he was a perfect gentleman. I couldn’t imagine what a guy like him would be doing in such a crappy town (Newport in the late 80s).
Since it’s OK for him to be with a woman 46 years younger, does that mean I can go cruising the elementary schools to find the next Mrs? What an age gap!! I don’t know whether to salute him or feel revolted.

There is that formula (it's clearly "guycentric") that says to date a woman she must be at least half your age plus seven. your age x 0.5 + 7 So if he's 96 and she is 50, when DVD gets to 106, it will be ok.

I've heard the "womencentric" formula also involves #s, not so much a formula. If you can marry rich, older, (famous doesn't hurt) dude... do it! *although being younger than his kids can make it awkward!

If he makes her happy and she makes him happy, who's to judge?

If he makes her happy and she makes him happy, who's to judge? Can I stop by and take your 9 year old daughter out for ice cream? You seem to be an open minded guy, future father-in-law. (What’s really interesting about this is that by the time she hits 19, I’ll be able to retire. Most of my life would be a complete mystery to her….the cold war, watching the space shuttles, y2k, so much stuff. No common background or experiences. And she in the prime of her life and me in the twilight.)

I didn’t bother to look up when they got married, but I suppose she was old enough to know what she was getting into………$$$$$

I'm not sure why you go directly to underage comparisons. What age gap is ok for you, 20yrs, 10yrs, or does it have to be less than 5 yrs difference. I don't necessarily understand it either, but if they are both happy why does it matter.

Dick Van Dyke dropped out of high school to enlist in World War II. He only weighed 135 in his first weigh-in and was denied for being too small. He ate a lot of bananas and drank a lot of water to bulk up to 141 pounds and was enlisted into the Army Air Force. At the end of basic training, he was told that, as opposed to pilot, he was probably going to be a tail gunner in a B-24 Liberator. Because of enemy pilots' tendency to attack from behind, tail gunner was one of the most dangerous positions in the plane. Knowing that and in order to get out of the assignment, he asked to be transferred to the Army's entertainment branch. The request was granted and Van Dyke wound up as a radio announcer and then worked in USO shows, entertaining troops.
