The qualifier is COVID. Without that qualifier, she would be a sophomore. Everyone got an extra year. She played in 13 of 20 games. If she would have gotten injured, she could not have redshirted. Without COVID she would have played her Senior year of HS and would be a Freshman this year. But she didn’t. So she’s not.

And you can call her a giraffe is you want, but she's only had one preseason to learn how to do it the Beav's way. She's a Frosh on the record and by any reasonable measure. She played the whole season last year. She’s a COVID frosh, but she’s really a sophomore. Uhhh, no

Keep digging She would not in any stretch of the imagination, except yours of course, have played for osu last year if her school had a season to play.

Fine. I guess all of our incoming freshman get to play in 13 games and practice for 2/3’rds of the season before their clocks start ticking. All incoming freshmen last year got a lot more than that and their clocks didn't start ticking. In fact the clock never started ticking for anybody last year.

The point is that she is not a traditional Freshman.

Just curious what the numerous head coaching positions that Jonas Chatterton turned down were. I haven't heard of a single one. Portland State, Washington St…….etc… Huh, that's weird. Jonas turned down those jobs but then lost out on the job at Montana to Holsinger.

And further on the nonsense about "if we only had quick guards".
If you compare Scherr to Greta this year you'd think Scherr is much better. But Scherr is a Sophomore this year, and Greta is a Frosh. If you compare Frosh years at 40 minutes/game then Greta is having a better year than Scherr in 2pt%, 3pt%, FT%, Reb, TO's, and Blocks. Scherr beats her in Assists, which is to be expected since she was Oregon's starting PG for a number of games.
If you want to claim that Scherr is quicker than Greta fine, but in comparing similar experience Greta is obviously the better player so far.

Let me first say that I liked Scheer's game in High School and would have liked to see the Beavs recruit her harder. Saying that, her college game hasn't been overly impressive at this point. You would think that with both PaoPao and Rogers injured early in the season, Scheer had her moment to shine. At best, I think you would say she's done a solid job. She does seem to be a very good defender. Certainly Mary Murphy and Ann Schatz talked about her great defense against Talia, although the stats may dispute that. Talia had 12 points and 9 assist in game one, and 23 points in game two of their head to head competition. Yet, I still think Scheer has a shot at being very good the next 2-3 years. I'm not sure that's with the ducks though, as they have good guards in the program, and Chance Gray coming in next year. I appreciate your stat comparison with Greta. Greta has every shot at a good career. I think her number one hinderance right now is confidence. That will come with time/experience.
