TVO was 1 assist short of a triple double and was benched for the last 3-4 crucial minutes of the game--(except for a short 20 sec. stint in the last min. & then right back on the bench for the final 30 seconds)--what the heck was that all about??.....Did the coach not want to win this game?....Did he not want her to get the triple-double?....this reminds me of what the coach used to do to Destiny Slocum late in the 4th quarter of crucial games during her last season here....If he is not careful about this TVO will be the next one in the transfer portal!....Can anyone enlighten me on why he benched TVO here? I have to agree. I think Ruck has little bit of a "little man" syndrome. He may be all smiles and nice away from the game, but if you cross him with not running his system to his liking he will sit you on the bench. He may not be a screamer like L.Wagner was but sitting players for extended times for small mistakes can have detrimental effects. Like what happened with Destiny..... That's what time outs are for.... Rueck needs to look in the mirror and ask himself if getting technicals during games and benching star players is doing good or harm for his team. Rueck better be careful with players from the midwest or southwest. They may pull a S. Goforth on him.

Benching your best player in crunch time is not exactly going to instill confidence in them the next time they are in that situation.

Benching your best player in crunch time is not exactly going to instill confidence in them the next time they are in that situation. I know he did the same type of "discipline" with Destiny and the team was in a much better situation in terms of wins/league positioning. But, I'm beginning to wonder if he is trying to send a message of "ego"? I'm the coach, this is my team, do it my way! I mean there are several players who commit as many or more TO's if you consider how many are committed vs the time spent handling the ball. Poor shots/forced shots are often because of the stagnant, predictability of the offense and TVO often is stuck with the ball vs the shot clock. Yet, it seems TVO is taking the brunt of the so called discipline. And, I also wonder if the T's and said issues with discipline would be different if the team was 6-4 or better? He seems very similarly out of control at times like he was with the last season with DS on the team. Both players are very similar in terms of being a little more inventive, dribble a bit too much, and like to play with flair. I just wonder if that loss of "control" is an affront of some type to his coaching ego? I do know that when I'm at the games I do not have the view of the bench as I do in the replays. And, I'm telling you TVO seems to be almost in tears at times sitting on the bench. Eerily similar to what we saw with DS before she left.

Teams are often a reflection of a coach's philosophy and even personality. Scott comes across as someone who is very disciplined, organized and controlling, to the point of being a "control freak". I am not sure he has it in him to loosen the reins. This is pure speculation on my part, but I would bet if you visited his office or home there is never a thing out of place.

IMO not playing Mitrovic in this game was an unnecessary snub to a post player who is working very hard to improve her game and has been contributing since Jones hit the bench. What a way to support and enhance a player's confidence.

I'm not typically a big fan of Rueck's antics leading to Ts, but the entire bench went ballistic on that non-call, players and coaches. And I don't think the T had a negative effect...the Beavers did play better for a stretch afterwards, IMO. The outcome of the game was not determined by that play at all. The TVO stretch on the bench was interesting...I'm not so sure it wasn't done for better reasons than some think. As many have noted, TVO is not a point guard. That is 100 percent true. Her skill set, size and speed (quickness) are all suited for SG. TVO struggled with the UO defensive quickness and Codding was better at bringing the ball down the court quickly and getting the offense going. The problem is Codding and (especially) Adams have not shown that they can score consistently and Adams is prone to mistakes when passing. But I think Rueck was hoping for some sort of spark there. OSU absolutely has to land a couple of quick points to run the offense next season or we'll be seeing more of the same. But as I've noted in other posts, this is not a new problem with Rueck teams. He seems to prefer using a SG type to be a game manager. Mitrovic did not play more because she can't get up and down the court fast enough against teams like UO. She does very well in other situations.

Don't get excited folks, this game was just one more reminder of how really pathetic it is to have high expectations of OSU basketball this year. There is nothing we can do about it, so relax and watch baseball, who will most assuredly win more than 3 games this season, or the gymnasts, who are a really fun and exciting group. Basketball is a wash this year, MBB, worst team in the US, and WBB is in over their heads in 80% of their games going forward. They may not win more than 2 or 3 more games this year, and that is actually noteworthy!!! SO, if you wants enjoyment, watch and support the teams that don't give you heartburn, and enjoy the Basketball offseason...only a "tiny" bit of sarcasm.....

I agree, enjoy baseball and maybe the team will be invited to the NIT. Rueck needs a true point guard around 5'7" to 5'10 in height and quick/athletic.

Do you really think all the cans in his pantry has the labels lined up so you can read them. I worked with an engineer that was that bad. It was painful but his desk was spotless at the end of the day.

IMO not playing Mitrovic in this game was an unnecessary snub to a post player who is working very hard to improve her game and has been contributing since Jones hit the bench. What a way to support and enhance a player's confidence. I was wondering if that was going to come up. Power forward as post and no subbing a 6/9 player into the post. Kinda reminds me of what the Morris girl went thru here. Just got ignored. This could be Scott’s tactic to move his available scholarships maybe with kids he has no interest in developing? We never get a real view of how affective the high low action might be with Brown as high with Mitrovic down low. maybe this next Stanford and duck game he might go two posts and three wings. We basicly do have 6 wings counting Talia. Rotate these ladies to find whose hot and not, per game? We say coach developes posts? Maybe only if they are keepers in his mind. Also would we have won last nite if Taylor’s 12 point average we got? Taylor had 21 points her freshman year against them. The ducks and Stanford have commitee like talent every where. Post big time. I’d like to see before Rueck gives up in Mitrovic, How MIT would work out in that context? I was and am proud of the seniors in this team. Way to go Ellie and taya they really fought hard. Ducks and Stanford can beat you two ways, three if counting the refs,, cough cough. They can transition you or post you up. I think our defense was good enough (referees uh) to win. We didn’t get calls on fouls and our guard shooting was suspect. Brown is getting better but still trying to work to get over her injury. She can favor it a little bit. Two more of these hard games. Hope we make some more progress.we get Stanford at home. Let’s have a Colorado game against them. Force them to play two posts can slow them down maybe? Ducks will go as the referees go uh. Go beavs

Prior to last night's game, Adams was 32,9% from the floor, Codding 28.6%. Adams was 25.0% on three's, Codding 22.0%. Adams was 68.8% from the free throw line, Codding 61.5%. An average of 6.5 points per game for both of them combined - 3.7 for Adams, 2.8 for Codding. They've played 15.7% of the team's total minutes and accounted for 9.6% of the points.

Yep..that's why it's a problem, as I said. They don't have a good answer at point on this roster. TVO is the best option, particularly against teams that aren't stocked with speed, because of her scoring ability. But she really fits best as a 2.

As frustrating as the game was last night, there were some nice moments...Ellie Mack decided she was a scorer last night, and stepped up big. Taya was again, fantastic in every facet of her game, and continues to impress. Kennedy is not hesitating on open looks and is beginning to look comfortable shooting when she has an open look.
I wonder if Taya will come back for another year? Taya is so important to this team, and she will be sorely missed if this turns out to be her final year.

With players being able to transfer without sitting out now, the meetings between coaches and players after the season must be an anxious time for coaches. You just don't really know exactly who will be on the roster year to year.
