A gallant effort vs a better team. I don’t know HOW else to look at it. They are better. No? Just have more talent so if someone is off in a game someone else steps up. It is not like you can just defensively clamp down on a couple of players. Shows what having a few true point guards can do and quickness was a factor at times. The difference in the speed of our guards vs their guards was amazing tonight. We looked like we were running in concrete compared to them. Our rotations on defense were slow leaving way too many open 3s. Got to find a point guard this offseason who can protect the ball and get the offense started. TVO is trying to fill the void but she is a 2 not a 1 in my opinion. |

They took 16 more field goal attempts than we did, and 9 more free throw attempts. You have to be playing a really crappy team to expect to win when they shoot the ball at the basket 25 times more than you do. Minus 9 on turnovers (the usual) and, I believe, minus 8 on offensive rebounds will do that though.
I think I would have played Jelena a bit more than 1.9 seconds if I were Scott to see if we could defend better inside and grab a few more rebounds, but I'm not Scott.
On the plus side, Talia was one assist short of a triple double.

Game went about the way I expected, their bigs got ours in foul trouble, and the foot speed at the guard position was just too much for us to overcome. The up- tempo 3rd quarter was a nice lift for the team and we played some good basketball to regain the lead. All in all, a good effort against a superior talented team.

Btw, Oregon was 26-0 in games in which Ionescu tallied a triple-double.
Just sayin....time to move on.

They have more talent but it’s not like they’re Stanford and we had no shot The "eye test", they are very athletic all over the floor. Really evident in their wings and bigs. I haven't looked at final shooting %, but they got a ton of open looks. Guessing they shot under 40% on many shots they normally make. Plus they had to have double digit more attempts. Even though it was a battle, it just seemed OSU was always struggling to stay in it and ran out of gas. |

The Beavs gave up way too many open looks at the basket. I was at the game. Our defense was slow getting to their shooters. That hurt us most in my opinion.

TVO was 1 assist short of a triple double and was benched for the last 3-4 crucial minutes of the game--(except for a short 20 sec. stint in the last min. & then right back on the bench for the final 30 seconds)--what the heck was that all about??.....Did the coach not want to win this game?....Did he not want her to get the triple-double?....this reminds me of what the coach used to do to Destiny Slocum late in the 4th quarter of crucial games during her last season here....If he is not careful about this TVO will be the next one in the transfer portal!....Can anyone enlighten me on why he benched TVO here?

And THIS is why ya don’t extend a coaches contract!! This loss is INEXCUSABLE!!!!
They’ve now lost three straight since ruecks contract extension.
Absolutely piss poor s%#tty coaching. Rueck’s seat should be scalding hot right now!!
This team is full of 4 and 5 stars and ya can’t win 15-20 games this season?!?!

We need more production from the 2. Goforth transferring cost us a lot of game this year. She was tnt on both ends of the court. Jones getting hurt is more than this team can manage. We will improve and be better in years to come. People calling for the coaches head are why sometimes I consider distancing myself from being an osu fan. Get a grip people!

Having been a coach myself, I am normally not one to second guess coaching decisions. But having your best player on the bench most of the last 3 minutes was a head scratcher. I would like to know what he was thinking, hopefully someone asked him about it after the game. I actually thought the Beavs played pretty well, and they have good players. They just lack top end talent and athleticism to consistently beat the better teams in the conference. Also, for me personally I would prefer that after he got the T he didn't wave his arms to crowd encouraging them to boo, not a good look imo. Let's be honest, if Graves did the same thing in Eugene, most people on this board would be all over him. |
