Wasn't KF situation related to her spouse getting a job jn Washington? Granted I am sure she wanted the Montana opening but even though she was a great recruiter and coach, she couldn't expect CR not to have an honest opinion. She will get her chance and I am sure she will succeed when it happens. My understanding is that KF asked folks at Montana what she needed to get a yes at the next interview for wherever head job. They told her she had only been at one program and that it was already successful when she got there. She needs to show she can help build a program up. Washington is a great opportunity for her to do that. And yes, her husband could not get a job in the small job pool that is the Corvallis area. Yes, the best thing for Katie is get experience coaching under a coach with a different style and philosophy. That strengthens her resume. I hated seeing her leave, but it was a good move for her.

Yes, hands down, the best 1-on-1 on ball defender in past 10 years was Gabby Hanson. I would say Taya Corosdale is my 2nd favorite OSU defender in past 10 seasons.

Taya has always been a very good defender. But this year she's got the block added to her game and she's fantastic out there.

Syd broke her hand against Tennessee at Gill. Katie stepped in and helped lead us to a home win against Stanford (Deven was draining threes during the game) for the first time in about 9 years. Gabby played with a bad back during most of her career and just gutted it out. Can you imagine anyone else defending Kelsey Plum besides her? Gary Payton Anyone old enough to remember Duane Allen?

Anyone old enough to remember Duane Allen? Yes, what about him? Terrible FT shooter by the way.

Gabby was definitely in a more visible position. However, Taya has been starting way longer and has always had the position of the shut down defender on players 3 - 5, whoever needs it.
The biggest difference is Taya is a much more rounded player, we don't give up anything by having her on the court. I saw other teams dare Gabby to shoot, while she had a nice shot she just didn't shoot enough.
As for the state of the program? I think it is still a great program, a couple losses or even a bad season won't change that. They have learned how to win close games and the last 4:30 of the ucla game was nothing short of amazing. This team is still finding their identity. TVO is a star in the making, she will be a lot better as soon as her teammates learn to look for her passes.

From my forty years or so of watching OSU women's basketball, my choice for the best overall defensive player on a Beaver women's team has been Gabby Hansen. Other nominees? So I can't vote for Gary Payton?

I liked how the focus was to speed up the pace over these last two games. It showed, and what we got to see was some really great passing. GO BEAVS.

Should I have put up a danger sign so your tender ears wouldn't be scalded by the horror?

If so, my apologies in advance.

She asked for helpful advice and they happily gave it. She is well liked at UM. They would have told that to any reporter who asked so I don't think it's betraying any confidence or anything.
