I haven't caught a ton of WBB action this season. I did watch last night's thrilling victory against USC.....
My .02.....this is a poor shooting team. Brick after brick. TVO needs help. I don't see anyone else able to create, or win one on one, and finish. That said, there is a good amount of young talent that will hopefully develop. Brown came up clutch on both ends to close the game out. Hopefully that gives her confidence to elevate her game. She is key to this team becoming a contender. Love the hustle of Mack. She is lunch bucket all the way. Go Beavs!

Our offense will certainly be tested by UCLA tomorrow. Do not be fooled by how many players suit up or that they forfeited a game. They will pressure our ball handlers and, I would say, probably create more turnovers than we had last night. They also have an Abrams tank that plays pretty well. |

During Rueck's time here at OSU he has had 4 PG's who started and played all four years. Syd, Mik, Talia and Aleah. I looked at their stats their freshman years in 2% shooting, 3% shooting, Pt's/game/40 min, FT %, Rebounds/game/40 min, Assists/game/40 min, Ass/TO/game/40 min, and blocked shots/game/40 min. I looked at the 40 minute average to even out vagaries of play time. I then gave a value of 1-4 with 1 being the best and then divided by 8 for all of the categories. So the lowest number is the better one.
Aleah 2.12
Talia 2.25
Syd 2.50
Mik 2.75
This is far from perfect as giving only a 3 point difference when Talia is blocking at 1.2/game while Syd only did 0.2/game isn't giving a great assessment of their relative abilities, but this gives you some relative rating of the three.
Talia's main problem is her being in third % in both 2 and 3 shooting. But she is often carrying the team on scoring while the others were never in that position in Aleah and Mik's cases, and seldom in Syd's case with Jamie, Ruth and others carrying most of the scoring burden.
Talia's other problem is Ass/TO with a current average of .85 while the others were well over 1.
I'd say the overall scoring shows that Talia is doing great compared to her predecessors.
