Legendary EMU quarterback and Super Bowl champion, Charlie Batch, tweeted that GameAbove Capital is willing to pay Williams $1 million to play for the Eagles!
Hey @calebcsw, have you considered Eastern Michigan, @emufb? If not, you SHOULD. GameAbove Capital is prepared to pay you ONE MILLION DOLLARS for one year! Are you ready be an EAGLE?@espn @cbssportsnet @cbssports @nbcsports @foxsports @barstoolsports @macsports @fs1

Welcome to the new era of college football with NIL factoring into decisions for players. I’m not sure this is what NIL was designed for, but it’s where we’re at.
Major college football stars are worth a staggering amount of money, especially quarterbacks.

It'll work itself out soon, but going to be a bit wild for a year or two.

next up....agents for the college player to grab the best deal I hope NIL will have some major controls put in place..otherwise college sports will be dead to me NIL is the death of college sports. Colleges with deep pocket alumni/donors -- USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, etc., will buy the best players because the OSU's and WSU's of the world will not have the $$ to compete for talent. Next, you'll see the legislatures of states with economically-disadvantaged colleges ask "why are we funding this stuff?" because these states don't benefit from things like stadiums, courts, etc. It's time people started accepting this fact. College sports are on ventilators. Dead within a decade.

No court is likely to side with them again. I feared this would start happening with NIL. I know there are countless fans who say "oh, but the kids deserve it, they bring in all this money, etc. etc."... I still believe there is this big muddy area between a professional sports team and a not-for-profit university (even private ones). I would rather just turn back the dial and eliminate much of the revenue from college sports. Then they can establish minor league teams for every sport, if they can properly fund it, and the colleges can just have whatever is left. Instead of tickets being a bazillion dollars to keep up with everyone, we push them down to the lowest end and pack the stadiums with people. The sport itself would just have to operate as a non-profit, only covering costs. Of course you'd have to figure out how to still perform and restrict capital investments.

It's not a mess if you are Caleb Williams, he is about to be at least $1 million richer. I'm sure he doesn't think that is a mess. What is chaos to the fly is a normal day for the spider. USC can still only have 22 starters, the ones who aren't starters are still going to look for greener pastures, all the other schools are still going to get players. Don't panic.

One would think that offering money to entice someone to attend your school falls far outside of NIL and probably isn't legal. With that said, part of me actually wants to see really good players end up somewhere like Eastern Michigan or Jackson State.

Anybody know who the HC, OC and/or QB coach at EMU are without looking it up? Me neither. Anybody know how many NFL QBs came from EMU other than Batch or how many QBs EMU’s HC has sent to NFL? Zero and zero. Caleb wants to go to NFL, so he’s not going to put further earnings in these coaches hands. NIL is going to impact college sports from the fans perspective — and not in a positive way — though I think the impact will be less than some people think, but this $1M offer is a none news story.

College sports will not die, just morph into a an NFL type G league of schools that will have boosters setting up big NIL funds.
Those schools will probably end up in their own NC bowl "tourney". Big time schools and the wanna bes trying to keep up with the Jones's. What 30-40 schools??
The good news 95% of players aren't getting paid big $ in the NIL world. So, the rest of "us" can recreate an "NCAA" with policies and enforcement to get back to playing what college ball/athletics is supposed to be like. Or closer than what this NIL fiasco will lead to.
Maybe 70-80 or so FBS schools with thebtop 40 or so FCS programs??
