DAMN! It's deja vu It's hard to get better if you can't play any games. All of a sudden it's been weeks I was so happy our team has avoided it , but now...at the mercy of others. Dang it, looking forward to those games.

Here we go just like last year college sports in array. What I don’t get why is this even happening? For instance if these kids are tested day and nite why dont they all just get the vaccine booster and bribe the medical field to leave them alone. Also I guess Covid won’t mess with football teams the majority of the football season but covid purposely stalks all college basketball players? How strange this is. Oh and covid knows the difference between pre season and conference season. Hum? Bowl games are being cancelled left and right, so this latest wave is impacting both sports - it just happened to start very late in the football season. I think the NCAA needs to take a new look at their protocols. They have allowed massive crowds at football games, like the 100,000 or so in the big house for Michigan/Ohio State, but there are no subsequent reports of 'super spreader events' and X number of deaths caused as a result. I have not seen a single report of an NCAA athlete contacting covid and passing away, or even being hospitalized. Now there is the Omicron variant, which, from all reports thus far, is much more highly communicable (as recent numbers would seem to verify), but much less lethal. A very large number of positive tests on athletes have come from individuals displaying no symptoms, and we now have pills that can reduce the severity of symptoms markedly. This is starting to remind me of the NCAA's protocol on athletes bleeding while on the court. It was enacted many years ago when HIV and AIDS were very scary things, and was probably a good idea at that time. It's been many years, however, since those diseases were a real source of concern for athletes, but the NCAA still stops a game if somebody gets a scratch on the arm. They'll probably do so for the next 20 years without ever stopping to ask why. My opinion: if there are 8 healthy players available, you play or forfeit. Healthy is defined as not displaying any symptoms.

Just wondering…. Are all athletics required to be vaccinated? Are they boosted? Are they tested daily? I I’m afraid it’s going to be a long season. Feel awful for these student athletes. ALL STUDENTS REQUIRED TO BE VACCINATED AND BOOSTED BY FEB.

ALL STUDENTS REQUIRED TO BE VACCINATED AND BOOSTED BY FEB. This is excellent. I don't like mandates, but I know there are no other options to get the 20% or 30% of the people that believe vaccines make you sterile and magnetized. The deaths will stop when we get a higher percentage vaccinated. Around the world, there will be less opportunities for mutation when third world countries are mostly vaccinated. I wish a vaccine was required to board a commercial flight.

Any chance we are trying to find someone else to play this weekend? Would love to see a game this weekend.

I have a modest proposal - there is a school close to us that has had its games also canceled this weekend. We have them on our schedule later in the season. Perhaps we could tinker with the schedule?

Perhaps we could tinker with the schedule? Sort of makes sense and then use that time for the make up games. But of course this is too much out of the box thinking for both AD's to explore.

Plus.. unless there is some waiver given schools can't just add games. There is a limit to the # played. So assuming the Pac12 games will be made up you can't simply add games to replace those now. Replace a NC game, game for game is possible. But not if you are going to get others rescheduled. Seems there should have been (are that we fans are not aware of??) some SOPs ready made for all this as the season goes forward. How many makeups are allowed? How many games per week are allowed vs time out of class etc???

When are these games supposed to made up? We play 2 games a week through the conference then right after is the conference tournament. It may happened but I doubt that they will change their schedule so that if two teams have games postponed then have them play each other. There are several reasons why it won't work.

I wouldn't hold my breath. The article indicated a few state health organizations weren't yet ready to agree to the CDC guidelines. I envision these as bureaucracies that are slow moving by design and fairly political in many ways. If their state has a governor that thinks she knows best and believes the more mandates, the better, they will follow her lead and hold off on making such changes. That's my guess, anyway.

Oregon just announced they were able to add a game for Sunday. Have to say I am very jealous! Who? Very smart move by them. Keep us posted on any updates here.
Update: Looks like they scheduled Carroll College, better that sitting idle. Made it a free game to anyone who is interested. Their season holders get their reserved seats loaded into their electronic tickets. I guess that is an advantage of having it done electronically.
Carroll College is a team out of Montana, btw.
