Well, not a lot of pride in how our team played yesterday. They said all the right things after the game about being extra ready during the off season, so we will see what happens.
The QB Chance Nolan will know he’s “on the hot seat”… Open competition and let the best man win.
They had a good season. We can be happy with that, although we are disappointed with some of the games being so off kilter, resulting in losses. Hope they can put it together next year. We’ll see.
Utah State was a very good team. And obviously was better prepared and played better. We have some things to work on, most certainly… We had the ability to win that game, but mentally- feels like - we were not prepared.
Does anyone remember the 1999 Oahu bowl game vs Hawaii? For whatever reason this result “feels” like that game. Under-performance and big disappointment…

It appears to me that in the last three weeks a greater emphasis was directed to recruiting then game prep Unfortunately this was an early Bowl. Bowl practice and the recruiting push occurred at the same time. We need to get to where were getting into the post-Christmas Bowls to avoid that. It'll come. You can't let up on recruiting if you want to build for the future. IF there was a focus on recruiting over Bowl prep, that's fine considering the circumstances.

Stayed home from the LA "experience".

Deja Vu? After 20 years languishing through the dismal years under Pres MacVicar, the football program began to rebuild. Dutch Baughman, Jerry Pettibone, Pres Risser, and finally A.D. Mitch Barnhart brought the program to back to life, and the coaching change to Mike Riley had brought more improvement. The team still had not been to a bowl game, and Mike Riley's coaching had not been unnoticed. The San Diego Chargers snatched Mike Riley to be new Head Coach of the Chargers! Mitch Barnhart needed some good advise to replace Riley, and called Dennis Erickson for his recommendations. Dennis offers to take the job himself! That 1999 team set themselves a goal to get to a bowl game, and were selected to go to the Oahu Bowl in Honolulu. The team celebrated, partied hearty in Hawaii, and played like they were hung over, did not play their best, and lost to Hawaii 23-17. The good thing though, was that the next year's team went bowling again. This time to the Fiesta Bowl, where they took the game seriously, beating Notre Dame 41-9. The LA bowl was not the Beav's best effort and it showed. The Beav's can do better next year, and if the earn another shot at a Bowl Game, they have learned a lesson and have been there before. I expect we will improve, and at the next bowl game, the Beavs will show their best effort.

So the Rivalry Game was Nov. 27. Week 1 was Nov. 29-Dec 4. Week 2 was Dec. 6 - Dec. 11 (OSU Finals Week). Week 3 was Dec. 13 - Dec 18. If you are right that the Beavs only practiced 1 week and finals takes another week, then there’s only 1 week to account for. I know the NCAA limits practices during finals, but I don’t know the regulations for each sport. I’d suggest that it isn’t much different from having a bye week. Coach probably worked on healing up and conditioning after the Rivalry Game and focused on the game plan the week before the game. Any way that you want to look at it, we got more practice and training and experience this year than the past several years. LOL at "Rivalry Game". Good little sheep You are wrong. I'm a wolf. I've looked at both sides, and I understand that there are valid points on both sides. So I don't care what you want to call it or what anybody wants to call it. My panties don't get in a bunch if someone calls it "Civil War" or "Rivalry Game." Sheep are the ones who can't think for themselves, only follow what others tell them. Sheep take offense easily. And some sheep are frightened of change.

I was very impressed with Utah State. They were quicker and better prepared. Our 3 play drive did not phase them. We stumbled and just could not dominate. Our deep balls were not good. They threw some snd we would grab. Our penalties snd lack of self control bothered Me. Often we were retaliating to something they did. Our lack of athletic defense was obvious and cost us on third downs. We were lucky they did not score again. There is a reason Utah stopped playing Utah State. They have nothing to gain and a lot to lose. Their Coach brought in players. They prepared snd we showed up. That is on our Cosches not the kids.

huh, what? I think I posted once last night. Do you want JS replaced? Not referencing you at all. No I do not. You responded to my post talking about 1 poster responding multiple times. I was not understanding what you were going in on.

I'm finding it bizarre how upset many posters are over the bowl loss. It sucked and I wish OSU would have played better, but Utah St. is a good team that played well and OSU just finished its first winning season in eight years. There is cause to celebrate this season. Recruiting seems to be on the uptick, as well.
Relax, people. Enjoy the fact that we have a football team that is on the rise, no matter the result of the bowl game.

I'm confused how some read a post and assume a certain level of emotion. Most posts are pretty generic comments found on every fan board. Winning and losing leads to a pretty typical range of posts. Sure they are complaining, but it doesn't mean there is anything more than typical fan disappointment, or any type of "anger" involved. Disappointment is pretty common for an excited fan base during after a loss. Especially in a poorly played game. Not even the moronic "fire JS" were necessarily angry... drunken? Attempt at humor? Sarcastic trolling?? By the same token, I'm not sure how a fan can truly "celebrate" with some level of extreme happiness a very inconsistent season. A season that really tossed away an opportunity to be at least a 9 win season. You just don't get those chances often. And, winning one road/neutral site game, 1-6, really isn't at a celebratory level for most fans. But, again being 7-6 is nice, but the opportunity was there for much better. One can read into a post whatever they want, but it doesn't make it fact. The fans I'm around... @home, on the road, via TV... don't live and die by what OSU does on the field. It's watercooler type chatter for a day or two then it's something new. This program has a long way to go. Let's see if bowl eligibility happens two years running. Then I'm going to buy in to program on the rise. I'm looking at tougher NC slate. And I don't think the Pac12 will be any softer next season. OSU will have to win 2-3 road games to become a threat for 7 wins again. So like this team, my thoughts about the season and the future... 1 step forward, 2 steps back after yesterday.

We better be ready next year, coming out of the gate, our early schedule looks like this: Boise St - We lost to them in 2016, 2010, 2006, and 2004. With wins in 2003 & 2005. @ Fresno St- We lost at Fresno in 2003 & 2001. We destroyed them in 2002.(Wasn't that fun) Scrub team at Home. Don't remember who, my memory isn't what it used to be. USC -They have talent and a new coach. @ Utah- The defending Pac12 Champs. Utah is fairly young and we gave them their only Pac 12 loss. If we want to continue this years success, we better not be 1-4 after 5 games.

It's in pdx, not part of the season tix. On a side note. Friend in OSU ticket office said they have received more calls irate about that than season ticket renewals or questions. OSU doesn't come out swinging they could very easily find themselves 0-3.

Thanks,
I was busy looking at the other 4 games and missed Montana St. I don't like playing a game in Portland, we used to do that quite a bit in the past.
The 1st Beaver game I attended was a game in Portland in 1984. We lost to Arizona, but I learned 2 things that day.
"Joe has gotta go" was the chant by some drunk Beaver fans. The wanted Joe Avezzano gone. One of the drunks asked a guy who was sitting by him. What do think of the game? The guy says: I don't care, I'm a duck fan. "f%#* the ducks" was the reply of the drunk. So that was my initiation into Oregon St Football. I got a loss, fans wanting the coach fired, and FTD. I've been hooked ever since.
