Looks like they are putting up some kind of screen or netting under the roof? View AttachmentNew kickers reported to have 'huge legs'... And a wicked slice

Don't know if it's been mentioned on this thread, but why is the lower section of seats black? Every rendering I've seen has shown orange. Did they just change their mind? View Attachment yes and the rendering for the track is even worse. Its shows a nice long brick grandstand. what we got is a horrible high school pre manufactured grandstand.

And I know someone who will hopefully be on the team next year so I'll attend even more. I appreciate that they have a grandstand now, but just like Reser, when you start from scratch and have a rendering that has a very nice looking grandstand but end up with what they have, its disappointing. I know it's expensive, and hopefully some day they can maybe come in and improve on it, but that doesn't mean i can't express my opinion on it. I was working at the track when I heard a family with a prospective athlete say it was pretty bad. Just think they could have done a bit more.

Drove down there the other day. It will be fine. The actual grandstand is taller than the rendering so the view of the backstretch, discus and hammer area will be even better, IMHO. I think the rendering is pretty bland; other's mileage may vary, of course.
They are prepping to pave the parking lot. It will be a huge upgrade over the old "D" lot, which was always filled with potholes by the end of winter.

That rendering was one step beyond a cocktail napkin sketch. Nobody should be surprised that the actual realized grandstand looks different. Those drawings are generally aspirational images used to spur fundraising. If they had been able to raise more money it probably would have been more fancy. Speaking just for myself, I’m very excited that after 35 years OSU FINALLY has a track and field facility with spectator accommodations.

The track grandstand is similar to soccer's, which I found to be more than functional and comfortable.

Yeah I get it, renderings are just that, ideas for fundraising. That was my original point about the renderings for Reser. And I'm pretty sure I said I understand it's expensive and hopefully they can upgrade in the future. I am also excited for facilities that will make watching the events better and for the track team. The team is getting better every year, and I love watching track and field. But that doesn't mean I cant be disappointed with this grandstand. That's just my opinion, from "someone who actually attends the meets". I'm glad you formed an opinion of me without knowing anything about me. I had the longest throw in the state in javelin and the 4th longest in discus my senior year in high school. Unfortunately I tore a muscle in my arm at districts the week before States so I couldn't compete. I love track and field and have gone to many of the OSU meets and am very excited they are improving so much and are starting to get the facilities they deserve. Just speaking for myself, not you

The grandstand was not open for this year HPM, as you know.
