Our BIGs (Taylor, Kennedy, Jelena, Jovana) struggled on offense tonight against a small team. Maybe they need to play a taller team! They weren’t aggressive going to the basket tonight but it seemed like the emphasis was to kick out for the open 3. Idaho doubled the post and so maybe practice to identify the pressure and pass to the open player? We didn’t have many wings slashing to the rim either.

I mostly saw 2nd half action. The reins seemed to be loosened quite a bit… team looked for early scoring opportunities and went straight to running offense when that wasn’t there. Without waiting for direction from the bench. I haven’t seen much of them this year but know that others on this board have been frustrated with Rueck controlling so much. IDK if this was because we had a big lead, but I liked it!

Not that difficult to pass over the top against a smaller opponent. Once we had a solid lead I would have liked to see us concentrate on driving to the rim or driving and dish. When we face a taller more active defense who plays the passing lanes lets see how we do. Idaho could have created more problems for us if they had drove the ball more. Sometimes we don't communicate well and get weak side help on penetration. The ladies had fun though and that's why they love to play....

Now a 30 point win over a 7-1 team...then I can get excited.

FYI... Norther Iowa has a "Watch" Link for their game against Idaho if anyone wants to try to get a preview. The link goes to an Oregon State stream... so that's why I say "try" (is it real? and if it is, will it have the same problems as we witnessed yesterday?).

Northern Iowas last game was a 1 point loss to #15 Iowa State at Ames. Could be interesting.

I didn't notice if anyone mentioned this earlier, but the Beavs started the second half with Taylor, Taya, Tea, AJ, and Emily. As in the first half, going with a three guard lineup, only changing out Talia and Greta for Emily and AJ. I do believe the Beavs are better most of the time when going with a 3 guard line up instead of the 3 bigger players, but we need a couple of those guards to have games like Tea and Greta did in this one.
The Beavs passed the ball better in this game, and obviously hit the 3. Now we'll have to see if they can start doing that against better competition.

UNI is actually a lot like Michigan statistically. UNI is just sort of a reduced version of UofM. If the Beav's beat them it's showing some team improvement.

RealRPI site shows the game a toss up with the edge to Northern Iowa.

Wow, almost the whole team is home grown in Iowa, plus a couple from Missouri. Seems really rare to see a team constructed like that anymore. Recruiting is so national and international.
