FT shooting was good, 19-25. 5-19 behind the arc. We are not a good 3 point shooting tam, plain and simple. That's 4 games out of 7 this year (and 3 in a row) in which we've been under 30%. Does anybody know how long one remains on concussion protocol?

Also, no one has mentioned it before, but I think the 1st half was the best half of basketball she’s played as a Beav. She was in control, making good decisions, and would have had more assists if we would have shot it a bit better. She’s had hotter shooting games, but her overall floor game was wonderful tonight.

I know, Colorado is first, but that could be a tough weekend to open conference play.

Kennedy in concussion protocol. Not sure how long, but that is why she did not play tonight. Thanks for that info. Norm.....I was wondering why she wasn't playing.

Dec 5 NET rankings has Monmouth at #273. Oregon State is #85. Don't know what to think about it. Are you sure they are that low? A lot of work to do before January. Beavs actually dropped to #86 as of Dec 9. Villanova's NET is #151. Let's hope the Beavs up their level of play for the Sunday game. Fwiw, Massey gives OSU a 77% win probability with a 70-61 score.

Beavs WBB has a lot of progress to make before PAC-12 play. OSU got out-hustled again tonight to 50-50 balls. We were playing a much smaller team, and yet gave up a lot of open shots from the perimeter. I guess the upside is we have a road win. Greta needs to go all the way to the rim and finish--she keeps hesitating when she gets in the key. Greta is an excellent free throw shooter, and she is going to get those calls. I'd like to see AJ get a start, and have Greta come off the bench during these next 3 games. Kennedy really is a stabilizer and her absence was noticeable. Scott wanted 40 minutes of execution--hopefully that goal is achieved Sunday.

Mid PAC may be a struggle. Again, haven't seen them yet but this game sounds like we're in deep doo doo!!! I find that hard to comprehend...

Very funny. As they say to failed comedians, keep your day job. If you think I was off-target, please show me where I was wrong. Good luck with that. I think any criticism -- of kids out their on the court -- is off target. Let the coaches do their jobs. You do yours -- support and cheer for them. I'm not going to prolong this after this, but maybe you should reread my post. I did not criticize a single player, so don't go there. I merely pointed out that they had played poorly (as a team), which they did. My only mention of a player was Jelena - that she had played well, which she did. Against an out-of-conference team with a losing record (last year) it may have been a chance to give her even more PT experience, but with the team's struggles on the floor last night, maybe not after all. If you are trying to say that we should just rah rah cheer on the team and point out nothing but the good and ignore the rest, then this would be a just drink the Kool Aid board, which it isn't. Now on to Villanova.

Would be careful about sharing medical/injury news. The correct response on Kennedy not playing is…”she’s not available.”

First half looked pretty good IMO. We stuck to the game plan and went after them with their lack of size, and were on our way to a 40 pt win, despite Monmouth really playing up and were aggressive and not intimidated. These types of teams are where Rueck-ball hurts us when it comes to final scores, as other good teams that force turnovers will put them away much earlier. We don't do that to teams, so if they can make enough 3's, they can hang around even if we are scoring inside efficiently on them.
I was very encouraged by Jelena as well - she's progressing steadily, much more sure-handed and confident at both ends of the floor. She's at a point where she's going to start taking minutes from Taylor. In this game, their minutes were pretty similar, as were their stats, with Taylor providing a little more scoring, Jelena providing more rebounding, offensive rebounding in particular. And in the longer term, I believe Jelena has much more upside for this team, and not just because of her size, but because she's a much better passer than Taylor. Taylor still seems to only see passes as a reset to her post-ups (she literally has one assist on the season, and this limitation of her game not changed in her career). Not that Jelena has lots of assists herself, but she at least has awareness of other options when she gets the ball. This is my biggest concern about Talyor's development - when teams match up to be able to defend her well, she doesn't find other ways to contribute on the offensive end. I'm no longer optimistic that will change with her, and why I see Jelena eventually overtaking here for minutes.
I was also encouraged by Talia's game. Not a great shooting night for her, yet seems much more comfortable running the offense, handled quick defenders well, was perfect from the line and had a quiet, efficient 19 points, along with 7 boards, 5 assists and 2 blocks.
Our other frosh looked like kids who just experienced their first true road game, particularly one that involved long travel, and that's exactly what it was. Good experience for them.
I agree that this is not a great team yet, but I do think they deserve their ranking. The problem is the delta from a top 25 to a top 10 team is large, and we have a ton of growth needed to challenge the upper tier, which is where we expect this team to be.
