He's gone, owes his former employer 9 million dollars. A lot of action for a guy who would get outcoached on game day by 25 high school coaches in Oregon. I would imagine substantial portal upside for the Beavs. Players and their families not finding the overhype amusing right now.

Cristobal....good recruiter, lousy X-Os coach. In any case this all confirms that Uncle Phil can buy everything but loyalty. I guess that when you have a landfill program, the stink will always seep out sooner or later. (Irmi -- my apologies to your post above...saw it after I wrote mine...) Add loyalty: Thibodeaux skipping the Alamo Bowl. Doesn't wan to hurt his pinkie before the NFL draft. Face it....the $chmck$ are a cluster**k. Just a reminder schools are allowed to purchase insurance on players expected to be drafted. As a possible #1 overall pick (not sure about that, but 100% top 5, likely top 3) Thibodeaux could get a free $50 million policy, with zero money out of his own pocket, against draft position loss and play. He simply doesn't want to. |

We knew for years that their tubby baseball coach sucked but they finally got one that could coach baseball.
There is not a soul of this board that felt Crystal Balls could coach game time. He could recruit but his game management was high school level. So as much as we glee in all of this maybe they will get a guy that can coach players up? Time will tell.

Let’s hope Chris Peterson can’t be lured out of retirement/ broadcasting. He coached there for awhile and reportedly liked Eugene a lot. No less stress that the UW job so …..hoping no chance.

This has to sting down south. It should be a very attractive spot for a good coach: huge budgets, a weak power conference especially with UW and USC down, lots of talent. Literally still can’t get into the playoff due to losing to a bad Stanford team and getting blasted by a Utah team that couldn’t beat your rival. So a coach that should be on the hot seat instead is offered a big extension and still needs to think about it? That’s going to give a lot of potential replacements some pause about what’s really behind that curtain.
