I can't say anything about Betts but from what I hear Raegan has a hell of a work ethic. I think she will continue to get better. Kind of like her free throw percentage this year. Started slow but quickly realized that she needed to get better since she was going to go to the line a lot. I've never seen a player recognize a defencacy and be able to improve so dramatically and quickly. She is a special player and I look forward to watching the next three years.

6 losses and getting knocked out in the 2nd Round of the Tourney with that roster? This year was not one of the better jobs of coaching for Tara. Should've been a lot better than they were. A couple things along those lines. Stanford lost a lot in the back court the last two years. Much more speed lost with losing Williams and Wilson. They were slower this year and last year in the big dance. Speed kills. They didn’t match up well against South Carolina last year nor old miss this game. In fact Stanford struggled during this years pac 12 league this year due to their slower back court and the fact from the bottom up all teams in pac 12 have gained better talent and speed. My main take away yesterday is a lot of east and southern teams are really qyick and get away more with physical contact over all, then west coast teams. Which could also be an Achilles heal for us next year. Lastly, the approach many east coast referees allow super contact generally compared to the west. Yesterday and The last weeks watching east coast basketball was almost comparable to soft football contact. The big dance features teams from the west coast like Stanford who were not prepared for the contact of south and east coast teams. The refs in the pac 12 micro manage contact. Which come dance time can mentally affect teams like we saw yesterday with Stanford. Old miss abused Brink or Stanford guards. This seemed obvious when observed, in my opinion.

I'm not so sure about this. For forever ASU played a way too physically aggressive style under CTT. USC was similar under various coaches. UCLA is fairly physical. WSU is under Ethridge. Colorado is another. Stanford is fairly physical even. I do think they take it even further in the SEC, but plenty of Pac 12 schools have been playing a physical brand of hoops for quite a while now, so everybody else in the conference has some experience going up against it. Oh, Arizona under Barnes is also known for this.

Also, Stanford beat Tennessee and went to OT with South Carolina this year. So they've matched up with SEC teams and held their own.

Could that have as much or more to do with her frustration. Maybe not having the usual "oomph", or stamina she is used to because of illness/illness fatigue.(having nothing to do with how physical the opposition was playing) Just a thought.

Watched a lot of hoops over the weekend, and I had a good idea where the game was going, so I didn't want to see it.

In fairness, Pili was Pac12 freshman of the year, and made the All Pac12 team her freshman campaign. As a sophomore and junior she was injured on and off and covid kept her number of games played down to 13, and 19. This season she is on a team that has a lot of balance, you can't focus solely on her, and she has been healthy. Add that to nice progression as a player and Pili has become the star she looked to be her freshman year. She was good as a Fr. I don't remember her game being this varied, or her being that quick and having that nimble of footwork. Yeah, I was only saying she was pretty good before two injury riddled seasons. Even though she won FOTY, Taylor Jones had better per minute stats than Pili did, but Taylor just didn't play enough minutes. I don't think that was as much coach's decision as it was foul problems for Taylor. Pili improved a lot this season over her earlier years. She took the Kolbe leap.

I get a kick out of watching the look on opposing players faces when trying to keep her away from the basket. It had to be my most fun part of the season.

Quay Miller and Jaylyn Sherrod will both wait until after the NCAA tournament to decide what they'll do for next year. Colorado and Duke should be a fun matchup tonight -- if you like defense.

It's really early, but Colorado is jumping all over Duke. Sherrod's speed seems to be giving the Devils some trouble. Sorry, I had to do it.

Indiana looks like a really solid Rueck-style roster, and they now represent another #1 seed that goes down to an undersized but athletically superior team in Miami.

Miami led almost the whole way. A couple ties late, but they never trailed.
They're not really that small. Pendande (remember her from Utah) played most of the way, she's 6-4. They had 6-4 Spearman and 6-6 Oldacre play off the bench. They do have some smallish guards, but Harden is 6-0 and built like a Mack truck. Indiana isn't really much bigger. In fact smaller in the post, but they have more length on the perimeter.

Colorado is falling apart, but UCLA is off to a decent start.

Not going to lie, it was nice to see Vonleh get the best of Brown down the stretch. Brown has 0 points (0-2 FG), 3 rebounds, 4 turnovers, 4 fouls, and 2 blocks with 37 seconds left.
