No one's religious faith entitles them to be a public health menace. The Taliban strongly disagrees with this post.

Over on the Cougar Lair message board they're saying there is a "players only" meeting with the AD at 5 or 5:30pm today.
Sounds ominous.

There are a bunch of people about to be fired tomorrow, for their continued stupidity when it comes to being vaccinated. Claiming a religious exemption is BS for the majority of them. Unless they invented their own anti-vax church in the last 24 hours. Actions have consequences. He's about to learn that, the hard way. I see it as Darwinism in action. The slow, the old, and the stupid ones get culled from the herd. What I want to know is, will this dickhead still be able to get his multi million dollar severance, after being terminated for cause? A social Darwinism argument! The very underpinning of most of the early 20th century's eugenics and racism. Hello 1933! I guess that makes the smart, areligious ones a "master race." I guess that a higher proportion of African-Americans and Hispanics are excluded from your "master race," though, is just an "accidental" side effect. If only they were "smarter" and less religious................. Rather presumptuous of you to assume I was labelling African-Americans or Hispanics as stupid. Or that I ascribed to a "master race" theory. It's a fact that in most predatory environments, the stupid animals do indeed get eaten.

You don't have a meeting if he's staying. The only other possible reason to have a meeting would be if his application was denied and he suddenly decided to get the shot. That would mean that he is unable to coach the team for 2 weeks. Highly unlikely, considering his stance.

But if you get a monthly direct deposit into your checking account of around $250k, you might say "I did my best, but for the team I'll get vaccinated. "

If it is not a sincere belief, you can be arrested for making fraudulent statements to the government. If you intentionally, recklessly or negligently injure or kill another individual, you can be prosecuted for crimes and/or you may be civilly liable. I believe that Connecticut is in the same boat, when it comes to no religious exemptions for children to attend public schools. It is important to note that those are the limits imposed on (1) children (2) attending (3) public schools. I do not know, whether those laws would apply more broadly than for those laws' limited purpose. Otherwise: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."--Benjamin Franklin (1775). Poor Richard! (Pun intended, and admittedly forced) So often taken out of context. You see, this exact quotation within its original context means almost exactly opposite of what you want it to mean. Franklin was writing about a situation of taxation, a puppet governor, the wealthy Penn family, and the legislation’s compromise to accept money from the Penns to pay for western defenses while agreeing to acknowledge that they don’t have the power to tax the family lands. The exact quotation is: Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. As you cansee, “purchase” is a key word here because, quite literally, that was what was happening. So basically Franklin was saying that everybody loses when we make exceptions for the rich. You are correct in your analysis of the original 1755 quote. (I believe that you are reading an article about the original quote and regurgitating it to me, but you are both correct.) Authoritarians, be they Republicans or Democrats, put up the 1755 quote as a straw man and then proceed to knock it down and act like they have done something. Libertarians of both parties generally shake their heads and laugh and point amongst themselves. I am using the the 1775 quote, which is slightly different from the 1755 quote, as you note. Ben used "obtain" rather than "purchase" to denote the difference between the two quotes. My quote is about tyranny, rather than taxes (although most Founders believed that taxes levied without the consent of the governed were tyrannous). That is why I use the 1775 quote rather than the 1755 quote and was quite clear in doing so.

And is everyone who has not been vaccinated "stupid?" No, social Darwinism, racism and eugenics are all awful. I cannot disagree more vehemently in the statements made in your last two posts. I reject the notion that individuals that are able to produce children more often are "smarter." Similarly, I reject any smart/stupid vaccination arguments out-of-hand. Some people have great reasons. Some people are morons. I would post that we should not all paint with too broad of a brush.

Gotta wonder, outside of Hawaii, who's going to want to hire a head coach who won't go along with rules the rest of his University's staff follows, even if they have different rules on the vaccine situation. There can't help but be some questions about his ability/desire to cooperate in the back of potential employers' minds, deserved or not. He's likely limited his options, I don't think any school is going to specifically search put an anti-vaxer for a head coach position.

Hey, maybe we can enjoy an Ed O reunion @ WSU. He fits in well in the Palouse!
