I know Pat, but not on a personal level. I'm thinking he sees there is still work to be done here. He's not leaving OSU on this note. And, I'm not sure he wants any part of an "elitist" type school or program. He has ZERO left to prove. And, he's OSU through and through. I'm betting he sees what he has built and every other job is a lateral move at best. He's home... his next move will be in the AD's office and/or off to relax and dabble in helping kids in camp settings.

I left Texas 7 years ago. That place is giant sinkhole filled with bible thumping, gun toting, half baked human mutants that do not understand anything about the world. Yeah, they love their sports ( especially football), but so do I - but I did not pursue sports as an end all. There is something called an education that somehow always gets a distant second place. The heat is stifling, the hailstones are softballs and the rain is like a waterfall, only there are snakes floating in it. Go to a UT football game and be prepared to sit on your hands because there are no student sections, it's all reserved for the 'older' donors. The most boring atmosphere ever. Also, no fresh lakes or rivers, or mountains and their beach is like a flat sand bar with all kinds of trash. I could not wait to get back to Oregon...and I am sure Casey would not head down South either.

I'm a gun-toting Christian that knows enough about the world to know I'm glad to be a gun-toting Christian. Why don't you keep your stupid political opinions to yourself?

My brief experience in Texas involved some delicious smoked meats, some of the friendliest people I'd ever met, and seventy degree days in February. I can think of worse places to live.
Also don't think Casey is leaving.

There's good and not so good in every state. I would guess most of them Texicans were probably not trying to talk you in to staying just a bit longer either. I'm pretty sure that Mike Riley still has a ranch near San Antonio where he plans on spending his retirement. He must see a different Texas than the one you see. Unless, he acquires a fondness for corn and buys an ethanol plant for a retirement hobby. Hey - it's possible. (If you got accepted to UT you must be smarter than you sound.)

I am a Christian and grew up hunting in AK but strongly believe we need better gun control in our country. I'm pretty sure that would exclude me from your stereotype. Although I understand your generalization I hate to be grouped in with that ideology because I'm a Christian. Just to clarify and further fuel the debate.
