I guess if you're standing still you are falling behind in the arms race.
I'd replace DonkU with Hawaii for a bunch of reasons. Otherwise this looks at least as likely as the last 100 conference realignment ideas for the PAC.

The Pac-12 has nothing to gain by adding any teams. Desperation pleas from Okie State fanboys.
We don't want you - or Kansas, or Kansas State, or Texas Tech - and we don't need you.

Any article that even hints at Boise State ever being in the Pac is pure delusion.

Boise State has about a 0% chance of ever joining the Pac-12. This is Oklahoma State honks not knowing what they are talking about. Kansas or Kansas State would make a better 16th than Boise.

Any article that even hints at Boise State ever being in the Pac is pure delusion. I have a soft spot for BSU football. My mom grew up there, and I have a ton of family who are rabid BSU fans.....I used to live in Reno area and had season tix to wolfpack football....Chris Ault days. I remember when BSU was in town in 2010....#3 in the country. I was at the GSR making some sports wagers for weekend and having a coldy.....got in a convo with some BSU fans and they straight up said they should be in the Pac12 in place of WAZOO....I told em they were dreaming.....next evening went to one the best sporting events I've ever seen. This post just made me think of that night.... Personally, I'd love to see BSU in the conference for football but they don't measure up across the board in all athletics....you can't deny their football prowess and fanbase, in recent history though......I love them as a regional opponent....I'm glad we have a deal to play them in the future

I’d be more worried about PAC disintegrating and teams leaving.

I’d be more worried about PAC disintegrating and teams leaving. Exactly this. when I read "the Pac would never consider..." I sorta laugh. The Pac is the biggest joke in college football conference talk. I can totally envision USC, Oregon, Washington, etc. Jumping this sinking ship for a massive Big 10, and really can't blame them. Could also see Colorado, Utah, AZ schools combine with the remains of Big 12. Maybe time to recognize OSU has been riding the coattails of its Pac 12 Big Brothers for years (footballwise) and it really has nothing much to offer in this changing conference realignment landscape. And I'm OK with it. If OSU ends up in a reworked and expanded MWC with WSU, BSU, SDSU, Nevada, UNLV, etc it has a chance to be a top tier conference team with schools more on its level and have a better shot of making postseason play.

If we are going to play this game of mid-majors that would potentially join into a super conference to round it out, I think the best course of action is to pull in Utah State and Colorado State.
CSU is a full fledge research university with an endowment similar to OSU and WSU, and so is Utah State. both have decently competitive sports programs not just in football but in other sports as well.
CSU and USU both share that they are a bit out of their respective metro areas, but still close enough to share them and close enough for natural rivalries with Utah and Colorado that are both roughly 1.5 hours from each other, give or take with weather.
BUT. with that said, if the conference were to expand, we'd not do it because we are a charity looking to elevate some mid-majors. They'd come along in a deal if we secured another higher profile pair like a Kansas/KSU duo or a Okie St/Texas Tech pairing or something similar as suggested in this thread. If the Pac-12 wanted to jump to 16, I think that is the easiest path, however I do not see the major advantage of doing so, to be honest. I am not sure there is really any qualifying pair of teams out there left without a conference that would bring in more than they effectively cost in revenue sharing.

We are like the Big 10, right? No religious schools.

We are like the Big 10, right? No religious schools. The Big 10 would jump at a Notre Dame. Otherwise, yes.

All this speculation is irrelevant. Realignment will not matter. The economics are aligning to end intercollegiant sports. Maybe not this year, but certainly by 2030, if not sooner. State legislators with universities unable to compete for talent and resources -- OSU among them -- will eliminate sports. The shift will be to non-university-affiliated minor leagues. Do you think it's coincidence that the NBA established its D-league a few years back? OR that MLB reorganized minor league baseball this year? The WNBA will expand and establish their own D-league to train worthy talent. MLB will expand the minor leagues turning the clock back to the 1960s and 1970s where there were AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, and Rookie levels. Universities like OSU will be nable to compete with the big 50 for talent. Period.

I don't see the point of adding Junior Colleges to the PAC-12, the 'Conference of Champions'.
