Not only independent acting , but contributing to the best things in an orderly society - as opposed to generating fear and chaos that appeals to those lacking an education and critical thinking skills ! Take a hike Shelby....same can be said both sides to the equation any day every day ....take a look at the garbage each side puts out there...no high roads either side. I recall the big push by the Dems on defunding the police and where did that get us....the same crap in downtown Portland that was so big on defunding the police and now they’re asking the FBI to help quell the downtown crap....

I just didn't want something like Berkeley, know what I mean? I knew I was going to study science and I always liked OSU's land grant status....known for forestry, engineering, etc.. I find it sad that kids go to college and lose their roots. I know I almost did. The lure of the left is intoxicating......but then you get out into the real world. Lose their roots? You mean grow up and become independent thinking adults? I feel like you're insinuating that only left leaning folks are capable of independent thinking.....all ends of the political spectrum are susceptible to group think, and peer pressure....Some think liberal college campuses are the real world. They aren't. I appreciate my OSU education, and I appreciate living in a few different places with very different politics. It helped me to sift through things and get to what is important.

Is this a thing? Are 18 year old kids choosing where they go to college based on politics? I went to Oregon State because I loved the Beavers. Moved to SDSU because I loved the weather and you know, the girls. At no moment did I ever contemplate liberals or conservatives. I really didn't give a f%#*. How sad that our youth have been jaded by their parents and media and bias that it impacts their college choice. What roots did you almost lose? When I arrived in Corvallis I had (I think) a thorough sense of right and wrong. I'm far from perfect as I've made some large mistakes as an adult. But I do try to own them and make it better. Warning - political statement directly ahead - I've always considered myself more conservative than liberal (right than left) but what is considered mainstream on Fox mystifies me and I would not touch with a 10-foot pole.

Im referring to big picture world view stuff, not necessarily right and wrong

So why was it Mayor Wheeler denied assistance from the FBI last year with all the protests and destruction of downtown businesses.....I guess he fits the description in your last sentence though

How did it gain so much traction, and even some implementation, in cities governed by Democrats then? Reading through a lot of the posts on here there seems to be the view by some that if it’s Democrat it’s only the “nuts, illiterate, and children.” Anything that might be considered crazy coming out of the republican side is the whole group of them though. There’s a bigger group in the middle of both sides that seems to be easy to ignore, unfortunately. I think both sides do it, because the loudest are often the ones in the fringe. I know I’m guilty of it too.

Are you intentionally being difficult? Is reading comprehension that difficult? I’m sure you are aware the Mayor of PDX is a Democrat. I’m sure you are aware that PDX still has a commission form of government and that the Mayor is the commissioner of the PDX police dept. The commission as a whole did cut funding “defund” the PDX police dept. No one said anything about the Mayor of PDX cutting funds to the FBI. He, with the commission he is a part of, declined most strenuously the FBI’s assistance…but you knew all that already, didn’t you?

You can use google to search for more if you really want to find them bad enough.
