Rays recall Drew Rasmussen.
Reds recall Josh Osich.
Twins activate Byron Buxton but send someone else down instead of Larnach.

Rays recall Drew Rasmussen. Reds recall Josh Osich. Twins activate Byron Buxton but send someone else down instead of Larnach. Larnach hits tape measure shots and is hitting for decent average. Now go Josh and Drew!

In 2009 or 2010 when Osich was hanging around Corvallis in the summers, trying to get healthy from an endless string of injuries, I would not have given a plugged nickel for his chances to have any MLB career, much less the one he's had. He reached the majors in 2015 but has still not spend a complete season without a trip to the minors or the ATS last year.
I really wish he could have stayed healthy. He had electric stuff before his injuries. And a top-shelf guy, too.

Speaking of electric stuff....I just watched the Mariner-T.B. Rays replay and Drew Rasmussen was lighting up the radar gun for his new team.....he was consistently 98-99 mph with his fastball----mostly 99 and topped out at 100!.....He faced 5 batters in 1.2 innings and struck out 4 of them and got the other on a weak ground-out. That had to impress his new teammates and manager....I think he may have found a permanent home with the Rays. I remember when he was a freshman at OSU he pitched the only perfect game in OSU history and the first one in the Pac-12 since 1973!....As I recall he threw hard then topping out around 95-96 but then had to have TJ surgery....he came back from that and was still throwing 95 for OSU and was drafted by the Rays but they never signed him because he had to have a 2nd TJ surgery!.....Now fully recovered from that and he's throwing 98-100.....I've never heard of a guy coming off TJ surgery (let alone 2 TJ surgeries!) and increasing their velocity by that much!......Usually after TJ surgery most guys lose a tick or 2 of their velo or a few at best come back at the same velo........just amazing!.....way to go Drew R.!

I was lucky enough to be in attendance for Drew's perfect game. While impressed with his performance on the mound, he was even better in the post game activities. He shook every hand, signed every autograph of those who engaged him. It went on for 45 minutes. I think he and his father may have been the last to leave the stadium, jokingly arguing over which one was buying dinner. Would love to see the kid have mega success at the major league level!

Drew got sent back down, effective Monday. I guess he pitched too well. It's tough being a fringe guy when the team has options left to maintain control of you. Otherwise he'd have to go through waivers and someone would claim him for sure.

Wow.....that is suprising Henry but I guess the Ray's needed a spark after losing 4 in a row to the Mariner's and 6 in a row overall....here is who they are calling up in place of Drew R.......quoted from their website: "ST. PETERSBURG -- Baseball’s best prospect is about to be a big leaguer. Infielder Wander Franco, the consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball the past two years, is expected to be called up on Tuesday, the club announced Sunday night. The switch-hitting standout will join the Rays on Tuesday for their series opener against the Red Sox at Tropicana Field. Having lost six in a row as well as ace Tyler Glasnow over this past week, Tampa Bay is in need of a spark. Now, the defending American League champions, with a wealth of young talent atop baseball’s No. 1 farm system, are ready to unleash the game’s next young star upon the Majors." Here is a link to Drew's 4 strikeouts the other day: He shows "99" smoke at the knees for 2 of the K's and a wipeout slider for the other 2....I don't think it will be too long before he is called back up!: www.mlb.com/rays/video/drew-rasmussen-s-four-strikeouts

Drew stays there with his stuff and he's got a long career ahead of him.

Seeing part time action, it's been a good two weeks for KJ Harrison. He's 12 for 25 with a couple of walks so now his line is 263/325/421. Maybe he has a future in this game yet.

On another note, Sam Gaviglio was released by the Rangers. Gaviglio has signed to play in Incheon, South Korea. I believe that the Rangers sold his contract to the SSG Landers more than three weeks ago at this point. And I believe that Gaviglio is already in South Korea, but I do not believe that he has pitched in South Korea yet. Gaviglio was looking bad in AAA, so it may be a good thing.

The White Sox have recalled Jace Fry from Charlotte.
Landers is a great nickname for Incheon.
