Down in Red Stick country, the Gumbo is in the pot and things are heating up fast.
Kendall Rogers, D1 baseball's college baseball Savant, is reporting Pat Casey has become the leading candidate for the LSU job.
Kendal has a good relationship with PC - over the years they have talked and the coach has always been very open with Rogers. Kendall has credibility and is careful with information he has in terms of reporting it factually.
In order for any coach to become a leading candidate for a job opening, there is usually mutual interest.
I'm skeptical but we shall see. I would be even less convinced if Kendall wasn't reporting this.

It is rarely an indication of mutual interest from what I have observed. The phrase can be used by an AD to let fans know they are doing a search with certain criteria for the school. The next coach will be measured against the "leading candidate" characteristics. In some cases the new coach might be a younger person that projects to be like the leading candidate.

Good luck with that search;)

So they're looking at George Fox's current Baseball Coach?

Well they also wanted O'Sullivan, and Corbin is on the list......isnt Vandy a better job than LSU now? Or at least they are equal-ish.....hell, Corbin gets better recruiting classes than LSU. Not sure what the money is or would be. I doubt he'd leave what he has going at Vandy for the pressure cooker in the bayou.
The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning that Pat is not the next coach at LSU.

I understand he may want to be coaching and teaching. That's why I thought U of Portland (the Catholic angle) may be a possibility but more likely somewhere like Willamette or Geo Fox.

Of some concern for me, is PC's contract with OSU ends this year. I suspect Scott Barnes will not extend an Assistant AD at $630k /yr.
For the first time ever, PC will be "between assignments" (Corporate lingo for unemployed). Money won't be a concern, but idol time might be - our HOF coach is wired for action, a pretty intense guy.
I'm skeptical but he hasn't closed the door to returning to the game, so I have to consider that. With the resources LSU has, any good coach knows he can win there.
We wait.

Pat's a rain maker for the Athletic Department - I'm betting there is a new contract there on the table.

Isn't LSU's AD Scott Woodward the former AD at UW?

The AD department has whacked people left & right and paying $630K/yr for a support position in a sport that doesn't make money is a very iffy proposition at this time.

Didn't we have to take out a huge loan to float our athletic programs from the lost revenue?

Pat is raising money for a lot more than baseball now - he's probably the best person we have for interfacing with alumni and potential large donors in all areas.

Isn't LSU's AD Scott Woodward the former AD at UW? Same guy. Hired Sark at UW. And Mulkey (WBB) at LSU. We all know how Sark flamed out at UW. And Mulkey is past her prime. Not sure of his other hires.
